Moviegoers were definitely not venturing into the unknown as they entered the cinemas to watch Frozen II. After all, its award-winning predecessor released back in 2013, was a big hit worldwide and became the highest grossing animated film of all time, before Jon Favreau's The Lion King remake took over a few months ago. Even so, Frozen is very much loved by kids and kids-at-heart that even after 6 years, the viewers haven't forgotten about the its lovable characters, impeccable soundtrack, and inspiring story.
Now we finally have Frozen's much-anticipated sequel released this Wednesday, and it is already breaking records! Having earned over P25.4M on its first day, Frozen II now has the biggest opening day for any animated film in the Philippines, reigning over another Disney film, Moana, which previously held the spot since its 2016 release.
This only shows how much the Filipino audiences might have missed Arendelle's most beloved characters: Queen Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven. In Frozen II, the gang embarks on a journey beyond a magical forest to find out the truth behind Elsa's powers and stop the mystical force that is threatening their home kingdom.
The film is again directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, and it also brings back Oscar-winning Filipino-American songwriter Robert Lopez and his co-composer and wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Voice actors Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad also reprised their roles in the film.
So don't miss out and be part of an epic adventure in Frozen II, now open in theaters!
