Smartphones and its apps have become handy tools for our everyday convenience, helping us out in different ways like checking our health, keeping us entertained, connecting us with each other, and more. But what if an app can predict the date and time of your death, would you want to try it?
This is the concept of the upcoming film from STX Entertainment, titled Countdown, opening in theaters this November 13.
Watch the trailer below:
Countdown is about an app that claims to predict the exact time and date of its user's death. When a young nurse gets three days from the app, she disregarded it as a hoax, but a series of events will make her realize that the app is indeed real, and she has to find a way to save her life before her time runs out.
To make things creepier, the same Countdown app featured in the film is now available in the App Store and Play Store, and everyone can try it in just a few taps. While most would acknowledge it as the movie advertisement that it is, people can still enjoy the thrill of trying it out themselves.
The film is written and directed by Justin Dec, and it stars Elizabeth Lail, Anne Winters, Jordan Calloway, and Peter Facinelli. Countdown will open in local theaters this November 13.
