Christopher Nolan’s war epic Dunkirk is finally hitting the cinemas today, and although it’s only been a few days since its premiere in other countries, good reviews – and we mean, really good reviews – have already started pouring in! Some critics have already given it a 5-star rating; some even said that’s it’s quickly becoming one of the front liners in the coming Academy Awards.
Set during the Second World War, Dunkirk is inspired by the true events that had happened during the Dunkirk Evacuation of May 1940. It tells the story of the Belgian, British, and French soldiers who had to evacuate the shores of Dunkirk, France before the Nazis close in and take over the place.
It stars Fionn Whitehead, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jack Lowden, Harry Styles, and Kenneth Branagh. It’s written, co-produced, and directed by Christopher Nolan who was also the genius behind films Inception, Interstellar, and The Dark Knight Trilogy.
