If your dad is into the famed gangster films of their days, then The Godfather is most likely at the top of their list. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, this crime film revolves around the Corleone family, particularly, Don Vito Corleone who decides to transfer his power and position to his reluctant son. It stars Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, James Caan, and Robert Duvall.

Train to Busan is another film to give your old man an adrenaline rush, but this time, it’s because of a zombie outbreak happening in South Korea. Gong Yoo plays Seok-woo, a man who boards a train to Busan with his daughter so she would be able to see her mother in time for her birthday. What they don’t know is that a zombie was able to enter the train’s premises, wreaking havoc and attacking the civilians who are onboard with them. The film is directed by Yeon Sang-ho.

3. For the tough-looking dads who are lowkey into some tearjerkers:

I  Am Sam is a drama film starring Sam Dawson and Dakota Fanning. It centers on a mentally handicapped man who fights for the custody of his 7-year old child with the help of his friends and his cold-hearted lawyer. Make sure to bring a lot of tissues as this will take you on an emotional roller-coaster.

4. For the fathers who want to relive their last days as a “free man”:

Watch: The Hangover (2009)

A film fit for the dads who want to go back to their days with their barkadas, The Hangover tells the story of three friends who wake up from a bachelor party they attended to in Las Vegas. With their fourth friend missing on the day of his own wedding, the three men go around town looking for the missing bachelor, only with small clues and hazy memories from the previous nights. 

5. For the cinephile dads who’d love a black-and-white classic:

Watch: The Bicycle Thief (1948)

This 1948 film by Vittorio De Sica is another tearjerker film that’s perfect for fathers and sons – fathers and daughters, too! It follows the story of a father and a son as they go through the streets of Rome, searching for a bicycle in which their livelihood depends on. Desperate to find their source of livelihood, the father is ready to do whatever – even if it’s illegal – to provide for his son and for this family.

6. For the ones who like a heartwarming film they could watch with their kids: 

Watch: Finding Nemo (2003)

Finding Nemo tells the story of Marlin, a clownfish who sets out on a journey to find and bring his son, Nemo, home when he is captured in the Great Barrier Reef. If your family is looking for a kid-friendly film that's minus the violence but has a lot of heart, here's a must-watch! It is directed by Andrew Stranton and Lee Unkrich and features the voices of Albert Brooks, Ellen Degeneres, and Alexander Gould.
