, prized star of ABS-CBN and Marian Rivera
, the fastest-rising actress of GMA, work together for the first time in “Bahay Kubo
(A Pinoy 'Mano Po').” The heartwarming, funny movie is Regal Entertainment’s offering for the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival.
Only Regal Entertainment can pull off this amazing casting coup, which, otherwise, would not be possible because Maricel and Marian belong to rival TV stations and have exclusive network contracts. Marian admits that it is a true honor to work with the premiere diamond star and it encouraged her more to put out all her acting prowess in the movie.
In “Bahay Kubo,” Maricel is Eden, a nurturing and headstrong mother to grown-up Marian who is Lily – the eldest of the adopted children. When Eden’s husband Perry (Eric Quizon) mysteriously disappears, Lily becomes a pillar of support. The closeness between Lily and Eden becomes a source of envy of Rose (Shaina Magdayao), the only biological child.
On the set, Maricel and Marian were seen very comfortable with each other, helping each other with their lines and discussing situations of each character. This closeness is apparently the reason for the instant mother and daughter chemistry of the two in the movie. When asked about her working relationship with the diamond star, Marian proudly shares “Bata pa lang ako sobrang idol ko na po sya isa po sya talaga sa mga pinakamagaling na actress sa ating industriya , kaya nagpapasalamat nga po ako kay Mother Lily at binigyan ako ng opurtunidad na makatrabaho ko po si Ms. Maricel Soriano, matagal ko na pong pangarap ang maging katulad nya isang napakahusay na actress”.
Meanwhile, Maricel Soriano is confident that Marian has all the talents and potential to become a brilliant actress she shares, “Hindi malayong maging isang premyadong artista si Marian, nasa kanya na ang lahat ng qualifications- magaling syang sumayaw, marunong din syang kumanta at talagang lumalaban sya pagdating sa pagarte. Malaki ang tiwala ko kay Marian”. Very much pleased with the superb performances displayed by the two brilliant actresses, Director Joel Lamangan will not be surprised if both will bag the coveted acting awards for the 2007 Metro Manila Film Fest.
Everyone is very excited to witness this family masterpiece - Bahay Kubo, with a great ensemble of cast featuring Eric Quizon, Shaina Magdayao, Mark Herras, Yasmien Kurdi, Rayver Cruz, Eugene Domingo, Bearwin Meily, Jiro Manio, Isabella de Leon, Rita Iringan, and Ms. Gloria Romero. Writers RJ Nuevas and Suzette Doctolero made sure that every family member will never leave the cinema houses without shedding a tear while watching Bahay Kubo. Every Nanay, Tatay, Kuya and Ate will surely relate on this all family drama because it reflects how a Filipino family cope up and bond through times of difficulties. Inspirational and heartwarming, Bahay Kubo is definitely Regal’s best bet for the best picture award for this year’s film fest.
I'm looking for Bahay Kubo.
