Manila International Book Fair
September 11  to 15 (SMX Convention Center, Pasay City)

The Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) is among the biggest, most sought after and longest running fairs in the country with a total of 150,000+ visitors in its five-day run.

The 40th edition of the MIBF is slated on September 11 – 15, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. The book fair visitors are regular visitors who have been attending for an average of five years and belong to the highly educated sector of the population. The book fair has grown from three halls of SM Megamall Megatrade Hall to two floors of SMX Convention Center Manila.  Highlighting the event are seminars, workshops, book signings and co-located events such as Fandom Fest that equally attract huge crowds to the event

Running for almost four decades now, it has evolved from an event for the publishing industry and the academe to one of the most-awaited exhibitions for all sorts of readers. The MIBF has become a gathering of sorts for bookworms of all ages and walks of life to celebrate the joys of reading and the knowledge each book brings about. It has also been providing a venue for the exchange of ideas amongst players in the publishing and academic industry.

Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino
September 13 to 19 (All cinemas nationwide)

The Philippine Cinema Centennial is upon us, and this is why now's the best time that we strengthen our support on our local films, from Cinemalaya to PPP.

During its grand launch, Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019 (PPP) has finally revealed the 10 official finalists that will bring life to this year's annual film festival. Now on its third year, the PPP will be showing these local titles in theaters nationwide from September 13 to 19. The festival will showcase seven feature films and three 'PPP Sandaan Showcase' films.

15th Momzilla Fair

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert
September 14 to 15 (The Theatre at Solaire)

For the first time in Manila, the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gerard Salonga will perform Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert on September 14 and 15 as part of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series.

Audiences will be able to relive the magic of the entire film in high-definition on a 40-foot screen while hearing the orchestra perform John Williams’ unforgettable score live.

In 2016, CineConcerts and Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, a global concert tour celebrating the Harry Potter films. Since the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert in June 2016, more than 1.3 million fans have enjoyed this magical experience from J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, which is scheduled to include over 900 performances across more than 48 countries worldwide through 2019.

Crayfish Party 2019
September 14 (Harbor Tent, Sofitel Manila)

NordCham Philippines, in partnership with Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel and the Philippine Norway Business Council, is hosting the annual Crayfish Party Manila at the Sofitel Harbor Garden Tent on September 14, 2019.

With more than 1000 people participating, the event is the largest crayfish party in Asia, and a major charity event, having raised PHP 1.4 million for the benefit of the Chosen Children Village over the last four years. The uniqueness of the experience has made the party an attraction not only to the Nordic community and members of NordCham, but also to high profile guests, celebrities, and personalities, media, a variety of expatriates residing in Manila, as well as the local Filipino community.

A band called The Maine is on tour!

PULP Live World is proud to announce that our good friends The Maine will be returning to Manila for their first SOLO show in the country since 2012! The Maine Live in Manila 2019 is happening on September 14, 2019 at the New Frontier Theater.

Since the band’s first solo concert in 2012, also powered by PULP Live World, The Maine has consistently been playing shows for their Filipino fans. Twice they’ve been part of the Bazooka Rocks Festival (Bazooka Rocks I in 2012 and Bazooka Rocks V: A Pop Punk Weekend in 2017). In 2014, they brought their 8123 Tour to Manila, playing alongside This Century and Nick Santino, and in 2015 they shared the stage with All Time Low.

Tickets to The Maine Live in Manila 2019, happening on September 14, 2019 at the New Frontier Theater, are priced as follows: P4,000 (Summer Special from May 15 to May 31); P4,500 (Back To School Special from June 1 to June 30); and P4,700 (Regular/Door Price). Rak of Aegis
until September 29 (PETA Theater)

The iconic, Filipino musical phenomenon, Philippine Educational Theater Association’s Rak of Aegis makes a much-awaited return from July-September 2019 at the PETA Theater Center in partnership with Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) and The PhilPop MusicFest Foundation (Philpop).

Since the show opened in 2014, Rak of Aegis has taken Manila, figuratively and literally, by storm! The original Pinoy musical brought one of the greatest OPM icons, The Aegis Band, to the spotlight by featuring their powerful hits and karaoke favorites “Halik,” “Sinta,” “Basang Basa sa Ulan,” and more.

Rak of Aegis was also one of the first Filipino productions which ushered in the trend of jukebox musicals, giving birth to a newfound appreciation for theater and original Pinoy music that crosses all boundaries of social class and age. Today, Rak of Aegis is the longest-running original Pinoy musical in contemporary Philippine theater.
