From PETA's hit comedy musical to Broadway's biggest musical, there are quite a handful theater shows playing in Metro Manila for 2017. Sa Wakas
Power Mac Center Spotlight
January 12 to February 5

Created and produced by Charissa Pammit, it is a Pinoy rock musical featuring the songs of Sugarfree. It is set in contemporary Manila which raises a classic question on why relationships fall apart. What's interesting is the story starts at the end of the breakup and works its way to the beginning of the relationship.

La Voix Humaine

Starring soprano Kay Balajadia-Liggayu and pianist Rudolf Golez, it is a one-act opera first formed in Paris in 1959. The play shows the last phone conversation between a woman and her ex-lover who has moved on with a new girlfriend.

January 15

Presented by Twin Bill Theater and directed by Steven Conde, it is a darkly comic play which follows the story of Jason who is a new hire at Legacy Letters, a company that's created to help those with suicidal thoughts.

January 19 to 28

Back for a limited run, it is about The Bench Boys which is a male group band in the 80s who had a one-time big hit and disbanded because of personality differences. Now, they're in their 50's and find themselves in a one-time concert for an ailing member and realizes they're not young anymore and people probably don't know them anymore.

Noli Me Tangere, The Opera

A theatrical adaptation of Dr. Jose Rizal's novel which translates to Touch Me Not, it features an opera in three acts and shows the Philippines' history under the Spanish colony.

The Theatre at Solaire

The Broadway and West End musical phenomenon returns to Manila for an alternative telling of The Wizard of Oz. The gravity-defying hit has already enchanted 50 million theatergoers across the globe. It tells the story of a friendship between Glinda and Elphaba set in a fantasy world of witches and wizards.

Written by award-winning playwright, Liza Magtoto, it is the musical who dominated the 2011 Philstage Gawad Buhay! Awards winning seven awards. The story is about five gay friends who are caregivers abroad and despite how hard their jobs are, they manage to perform in small gigs to do what they really want.

Directed by Bart Guingona and presented by Repertory Philippines, it shows a court-appointed psychiatrist who is sent to evaluate Sister Agnes, a nun whose infant has been found strangled but has no memory of giving birth. The psychiatrist must distinguish between the truth and lies which Agnes is saying.

Based on the well-loved play, Cyrano de Bergerac, it shows his unrequited love for Roxane. The musical is now set in 1940s Manila where Cyrano is a cadet and Roxane is a college student. The story of love is put alongside the struggle during World War II.

It tells the story of Hector who works at a call center as a troll who harasses anyone who comments anything negative about the martial law days. He then gets visits from ghosts of martial law who are being pushed out of the internet cloud by untruths and historical alterations.
