Where It All Began
It began with a slice of cake. Chef Baba Ibazeta-Benedicto has built a loyal following over the years for her delicious, classic desserts at the successful Classic Confections. One of her most famous concoctions is Nono's Chocolate Oblivion, named after her father. Baba is excited by her latest venture, Nono's, where she gets to explore her passion for delicious comfort food.
"Nono's is a personal journey into my childhood and home. As I began to dream of a restaurant and what type of food I would want to create, I was deeply drawn to, and inspired by my favourite home-cooked childhood meals and snacks.
Comfort food is simple. It is heartwarming. It is nourishing. It is home. It is full of happy memories with loved ones, It is food we come back to again and again.
For me, it is sharing pepitos with my lolo for merienda, gathering around the table for a hearty breakfast with my family or savoring hot, cheesy mac 'n cheese on a rainy day."
