Start Strong With Appetizers:
Begin your meal with something light and head on over to the antipasto station. Get some fillet of fresh sardines marinated with olive oil, salt and lemon which you can pair with some Parmigiano Reggiano and some warm foccacia bread.
Alfred also has a rotating menu of appetizers, salads, flatbread, soup and pasta of the day. A sample spread includes Spiced Crab Tartlets, Chicken Liver Pate on Crostinis, Roasted Carrots and Couscous, Smoked Salmon and Capers Flatbread, Pumpkin Soup with Greek Youghurt, and so much more.
Another can't-miss in the appetizers section is the Swiss Cheese Fondue made with Emmenthal and Gruyere Cheese which you can drizzle on some crisp vegetables. They also have three kinds of charcuterie, with the Smoked Chicken and Beef Pastrami brined straight from their kitchen.
Must Not Miss:
While Alfred is not your typical hotel restaurant buffet which has an expansive offering, they focus on quality dishes like this Shrimp with Garlic and Paprika, and Baked Salmon with Whole Grain Mustard Crust. On other days, the salmon can also have a teriyaki glaze or cooked tandoori-style with cucumber raita, while the shrimp is in a tomato and red chili Arrabiatta or Sriracha sauce.
Among all the hotel buffet restaurants I've gone to, Alfred has one of the best steak offerings in the metro. In a glimpse, the U.S. Angus Ribeye lacked color and it looked dry but I was completely wrong. What surprised me the most is no matter how huge the slab of meat is, each slice is cooked perfectly and packed so much flavor — you won't even be needing the green peppercorn sauce they have on the side.
Alfred's dessert station is in a roving cart but it won't be hard to catch the glorious assortment of sweets! Choose from three different cakes — make sure you get yourself some Strawberry Shortcake for something light and airy. There's also a Chocolate Caramel Cake that's perfect if you're a chocolate lover. Bite-sized pastries like the hazelnut-flavored Paris Brest and Custard Flan are available as well.
Is there room for more dessert? Alfred's homemade ice cream selection is a must-try. They serve two of their seven signature ice cream flavors daily. A personal favorite is Ispahan which is a delicious and refreshing combination of raspberry puree, lychee, and rose essence. Other ice cream flavors are Baked Cheesecake, Supermoist Chocolate, Honey, Taro & Jackfruit, Montblanc and Genmaicha.
