An online business that instantly caught my attention for its huge slab of halaya on top of their ensaymada. What started as a passion project with 12 orders in the beginning quickly grew to 100 boxes per day. They’ve just recently launched their melt-in-your-mouth Ensaymada. Entering a Wildflour store is just heaven for pastry lovers! Their Cheese Ensaimada (P130/pc; P750/half dozen) has an airy and moist base with a heaping serving of queso de bola shavings resting on a whipped buttercream frosting.

It may look simple but Classic Confections’ Parmesan Ensaymada (P85/pc; P510/half dozen) is a killer. With its melt-in-your-mouth goodness, this is definitely a must-try. It has the perfect balance of creamy and sweet, and uses parmesan cheese on top for a different kind of ensaymada.

Purple Crumbs Kitchen
If you love ube as much as I do, Purple Crumbs Kitchen is worth checking out. They’ve started their online business during the lockdown with only four products, everything with an ube twist! For the holidays, they’ve rolled out a unique Ensaymada Cupcake which is a cupcake version of the well-loved ensaymada. It is available in two variants — Ube (P280/6pcs) and Queso de Bola (P250/6pcs).

Why indulge in just one cheese if you can have three? Manam’s Three Cheese Ensaymada ‘Which (P200) is a fusion of the classic ensaymada and grilled cheese sandwich. It has a generous amount of kesong puti, parmesan, and cheddar cheese. If you think it can’t get any cheesier, you have the option to top it off with melted raclette for only P110!

This just can’t not be on the list. Diamond Hotel’s ever-popular Ensaymada comes in plain and ube, both priced at P150. It has an extremely soft and fluffy base loaded with creamed butter and shredded cheese on top. Make sure to eat this with your eyes closed because it says to have 1,200 calories. But trust me, every bite is worth every calorie!
