Coca Cola Donates to McDonald's Kindness Kitchen

Coca-Cola Donates Products to the McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen

Coca-Cola has been continuously supporting communities during the COVID-19 pandemic through the provision of food packs and beverages. In partnership with McDonaldā€™s Philippines, one of its partners, Coca-Cola donated Minute Maid products and other beverages to the McDonaldā€™s Kindness Kitchen, which to date has already served more than 260,000 meals to beneficiaries in Metro Manila and key provinces.Ā

A program of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines, the McDonaldā€™s Kindness Kitchen aims to spread kindness by providing food and beverages to Filipinos, particularly frontliners and vulnerable communities during the pandemic. Coca-Cola found it a fitting opportunity to extend aid as the McDonaldā€™s Kindness Kitchen meals consist of a rice meal,Ā beverage, and dessert.

At the onset of the initiative, nine kitchens, including two in Cebu, served 1,500 meals, cooked and packed by restaurant crew, managers, and employee volunteers following strict hygiene and food preparation standards, every day for healthcare workers, police personnel, local government volunteers, and marginalized communities.

ā€œWe are working with our partners to support not only their goal of spreading kindness through food and beverage donations, but also to help them deliver these meals to those that need it the most,ā€Ā  said Winn Everhart, Coca-Cola Philippines President and General Manager. ā€œOur partnership with McDonaldā€™s is an example of how we are leveraging on the strength of our system and all our partners. Through the McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen, we work hand-in-hand toĀ  ensure that frontliners and communities in need receive meals that they can enjoy during these difficult times.ā€

Apart from providing beverages, Coca-Cola is also lending its trucks to deliver the meals from the kitchens to the designated local government units.

ā€œDuring this difficult time, we are grateful for the support of like-minded organizations in making McDonaldā€™s Kindness Kitchen a reality,ā€ said Marie Angeles, Executive Director of the RMHC whose local chapter came up with the initiative. ā€œRMHC has always been committed to making a difference in the lives of Filipinos. Collectively, we hope to have made a positive impact in the lives of our frontliners and the various marginalized communities as we all face the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis.ā€

The McDonaldā€™s Kindness Kitchen also provides meals to those in quarantine centers, locally-stranded individuals and displaced families, with the assistance from Grab, Angkas, Metrobank, and ABS-CBN Foundation.
