Lasagna in Manila: 10 Cheesy Pasta Dishes to Try for World Lasagna Day on July 29

If you think it’s just one of those holidays people created to have an excuse and be guiltless to have all the lasagna they could have in a day, then you are absolutely right!

In case you didn’t know, yep, World Lasagna Day does exist, and it’s happening on Saturday, July 29! And if you think it’s just one of those holidays people created to have an excuse and be guiltless to have all the lasagna they could have in a day, then you are absolutely right. I mean, what best way to celebrate Lasagna Day than to indulge yourself with some cheesy goodness, right?

Here’s some of the places where you could get some of the best lasagna in the metro (oh, and we got something for the vegans and the thrifty folks, too!):

1. House of Lasagna

If there’s only one place you should try and visit for this pasta dish, you could never go wrong with House of Lasagna. It’s an Italian-inspired restaurant and is said to be one of the first restaurants in the country to specialize in lasagnas. Have their Beef Lasagna (Single Tray: P295) if you’re one who wants to check out the crowd-favorite, and Carbonara Lasagna (Single Tray: P330) if you’re for one that’s creamy and cheesy at the same time!

2. Parmigiano Pizzeria Ristorante

When you find yourself in Resorts World Manila and craving for this Italian dish, Parmigiano Pizzeria Ristorante's Lasagna Alla Bolognese (P470) is one to try out. It's the traditional oven-baked lasagna, made with besciamella sauce, bolognese, mozarella, and parmigiano cheese. If you like something that's even cheesier, order their Lasagna 5 Cheese (P590), made with layers of 5 different kinds of cheese.

3. Banapple Pies and Cheesecakes

Nope, Banapple isn't only about pies and cheesecakes! One of the crowd-favorites in the restaurant is their Lasagna Roll-Ups (P235), basically made with rolled-up lasagna strips filled with herbed cream and parmesan cheese and smothered with tomato sauce and mozarella cheese.

4. Wicked Kitchen

It's never nice to look for a rebound, or to be the rebound. The only place where rebounds are actually good is when it's used in basketball and, in WIcked Kitchen's case, when it's used as a name of a cheesy pasta dish. They serve two kinds of lasagnas: Rebound Lasagna (4 cheese, chicken and Italian sausages, white wine, and cream) and the Ex's Lasagna (4 cheese, Italian sausages, gresh herbs, and roasted garlic cream).

5. Greenwich

If you're on a budget but are craving for lasagna, Greenwich is the one to go to. Their cheesy and meaty Lasagna Supreme starts at P100, but if you want to have it with fried chicken and drinks, you may do so for P150

6. Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen

Mama Lou's homemade pasta are all something that every fan of Italian food must try. Their Lasagna (P295), made with parmesan, mozarella, and their own meat sauce, is baked in a brick oven so it's sure to be savory and cheesy and everything that's good in a lasagna.

7. Wildflour Cafe + Bakery

Wildflour's Lasagna Bolognese (P450), served in a skillet, is made with ground beef, mozarella, tomato sauce, and Italian sausage. It may seem like your typical lasagna but better as it's made with some of the best ingredients out there!

8. Green Pastures

If you're vegan or just want a healthier alternative for the typical meaty pasta dish, Green Pastures' Ultimate F2T Lasagna (P630) is your lasagna to try. The restaurant is known for its locally-grown and organic ingredients, and their lasagna is made of exactly that: roasted carrot puree, mushrooms, and layers of 3 different kinds of cheese.

9. Pipino Vegetarian

Pipino Vegetarian

Creating innovative Filipino plant-based dishes is Pipino Vegetarian, unlike other vegan restaurants, all their dishes are served at a very affordable price! Aside from their vegan version of Kare-Kare, Pinakbet Risotto, and vegan cupcakes (yes, cupcakes!), one of their must-tries is their Vegan Lasagna (P165). It's made with spinach ricotta, tomato, mixed vegetables, vegan cheese, lasagna pasta, and housemade tomato sauce.

10. Ka Tunying's Cafe

Ka Tunying's Cafe

If you're one who loves pumpkin, Ka Tunying's Ka-Love-Asa Lasagna (P265). This baked pasta dish is made with layers  of zucchini, eggplant, tomato sauce, cheese, and yes, lots and lots of kalabasa. They also have a Tinapa Carbonara if you're more into a creamier pasta dish with a twist.
