10 Must-Visit Brunch Restaurants in Metro Manila

Brunch is not a meal anymore. It's a lifestyle.

“Brunch is not just a meal anymore, it’s a lifestyle.”

That is not a real quote, but we’re sure someone has already said that at one point – we’re looking at you, ladies who brunch. Blame it on the ultra pretty brunch places and the influencers who made them blow up, but the once practical meal of the day – the one you get when you’re not an early bird but can’t wait for lunch anymore – has been upgraded into a form of sophisticated social gathering. And since we’re all about breakfast (or second breakfast) no matter what time of the day it is, we’re listing here the best 10 places where you can grab brunch, mimosas, optional.

1. Apartment 1B
Address: Ground Floor, 1 Lafayette Square, 132 L. P. Leviste Corner Sedeno Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City

Image: Apartment 1B

Apartment 1B stays faithful to its name with its menu that revolves around comfort dishes. The restaurant also serves mains and sandwiches, but its breakfast and brunch meals are particularly stellar thanks to the fresh ingredients that they use (they only use organic eggs!). We love their Reuben Sandwich which comes with rye bread, beef pastrami, Swiss Cheese, and Sauerkraut, and the heavier Egg Breakfast which comes with two eggs, home fries, or any choice of Canadian ham, English bangers, Corned beef hash, and smoked bacon. Pair it with a glass of their Bloody Mary to make the calories flow smoothly.

2. Le Petit Souffle
Address: Third Floor, Century City Mall, Kalayaan Avenue, Poblacion, Makati City

One of the many things that makes brunch so great is that it has a number of rules that – if you study closely – DO NOT actually conform to normal rules. Brunch is usually a combination of sweet and savory, something which French-Japanese Bistro Le Petit Souffle offers. This food spot nails down the concept of brunch right down the head, from its diverse menu of pasta and mains (a lot of which are topped with an egg) to its pretty interiors. Our favorite is the Carbonara Souffle, a creamy white masterpiece topped with fluffy egg and the Unagi Benedict, their more savory version of the breakfast favorite.

3. Bean & Yolk
Address: Westgate Hub Westgate, Filinvest Alabang, Muntinlupa City

Image: Bean & Yolk

From its name alone, you know Bean & Yolk is not playing around when it comes to brunch. A breakfast-inspired place offering rice meals, coffee, waffles (another brunch favorite), and fruit bowls, this minimalist spot has some of the most innovative and unique brunch plates on their food list. Feeling a bit adventurous for brunch? We dare you to try their Breakfast Ramen, an odd but delicious combination of ramen noodles topped with pork floss, a sunny side up, and cheese strips. We promise you’ll never look at your ramen the same way again after trying it!

4. Aperitif Manille
Address: Fourth Floor, SM Aura Premier, C5 Road Corner 26th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

Image: Aperitif Manille

Originally starting as one of the best graze table providers in the metro, Aperitif Manille has brought their A-game to their sit-down restaurant in SM Aura where you can order some of their yummiest – and prettiest! – creations. The place, which is all kinds fancy and sophisticated from its interiors to food presentation, offers sweet and savory dishes, as well as a mini version of their graze sets which you can bring to the cinema! Try their Prosciutto pasta, a creamy dish of thick noodles freshly tossed on a cheese wheel and topped with thin slices prosciutto. Finish off with any of their Gelato cones or, if you’re feeling fancier, their graze cones which already come with a variety of cold cuts.

5. Dean & DeLuca
Address: Ground Floor, Eton Tower, Dela Rosa Corner V. A. Rufino Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City

Image: Dean & DeLuca

There’s more to Dean and DeLuca than just good coffee. The New York-born shop started with the mission of providing quality gourmet and artisan food, and it more than delivered with its varied menu that includes brunch favorites like waffles and tapas! Those who have a sweet tooth will definitely be delighted by their Salted Caramel Banana Organic Buttermilk Waffle, a plate of fluffy waffles topped and made with all-natural ingredients. The rich salted caramel sauce balances out the sweetness of the bananas and organic ice cream and the waffles itself provide just the right bite, without being soggy underneath all those toppings. Looking for a healthier, more savory version? Try their Smoked Salmon Quinoa Bowl, a colorful dish of smoked salmon, avocado, mangoes, beetroot, and quinoa.

6. Little Owl Café
Address: 65 Broadway Avenue, New Manila, Quezon City

Image: Little Owl Cafe

Chicken and waffles and fries? Um, yes, please! Little Owl Cafe is the perfect brunch place to visit if you’re looking for a quiet, quaint spot in Quezon City. The restaurant’s menu is a collection of dishes that perfectly combines sweet and savory, so don’t be surprised if you find a number of unique offerings there. We love their best-selling Chicken Waffles, a towering dish of crispy deep-fried chicken fillets sandwiched between two crispy waffles with shoestring fries on the side. If you want something less heavy but with the equal punch of flavor, however, then you can order Omelette Chorizo Rice, a meal made with homemade longganisa rice wrapped in fluffy omelette topped with aioli and onion gravy.

7. Stacy’s
Address: Forbes Town Center, Rizal Drive Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, 1634 Metro Manila

Image: Stacy's

A visit to Stacy’s is a delight not only to the palate but to the visual senses as well.  The vintage-retro inspired restaurant sets the perfect backdrop for celebrations, from children parties to your everyday fancy brunch. Stacy’s specializes in rice meals that will surely leave you bursting at the seams, but it does have a good selection of brunch plates as well. Try their Fresh Poached Eggs which comes with Canadian Bacon Ham, grilled tomatoes, whole wheat pandesal, melted cheese, and homemade Hollandaise sauce served with a side of steak fries and honeyed fresh fruits. If you’re looking for something lighter, however, their California Crabstick Sandwich – a buttered croissant with crabstick salad tossed in a honey wasabi mayo dressing, mangoes, and cucumber – is a good choice.

8. Banapple Pies and Cakes
Address: 2/L Il Terrazzo, 35 Tomas Morato, Quezon City (and other branches)

Image: Banapple Pies & Cakes

Here’s a fact: Banapple does a great job at its pies and cakes. Here’s another fact: They also have other meals that are perfect for brunch and basically other times of the day. While this favorite cake and pie place tops the list of many when it comes to sweet treats, Banapple balances out the flavors it offers with the many savory dishes on its breakfast, lunch, and snacks list. You have to be ready to eat BIG when you drop by for a visit – each plate is big enough to feed two people and will leave you feeling full for hours. Try their Potato Salad and Savory Pie if you want to go a bit lighter for brunch. If you’re famished, however, you can go all out with their Lasagna Roll-Ups, a savory beauty of two lasagna rolls slathered all over with cheese and meat sauce.

9. Mary Grace Cafe
Address: Lower Ground Level Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Drive corner Estrella St., Rockwell Center, Makati City

Image: Mary Grace Cafe

You don’t really think this list will end without mentioning this top spot for ‘ladies who brunch’, right? Mary Grace Cafe is considered a legend with their ensaymadas but it has also been relegated as a favorite hangout spot among those who have any time of the day to spare to get good food. Its food perfectly reflects its cozy interiors and for brunch, you can either get one of their pasta plates – we recommend the Tomato and Herb or the Seafood Bowl, both bursting with fresh ingredients and tossed in lip-smacking oils – or their sweeter offering like the Brioche French Toast. If you couldn’t care less though, just go get their ensaymada. It’s brunch, so what’s stopping you, right?

10. The Morning After
Address: GFF2 Solenad 3, Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Tagaytay Road, Santa Rosa, Laguna

Image: Morning After

Cheeky name aside, this food spot is the perfect place to be if you prefer your brunch heavy and worthy of your cheat day. It’s not within the vicinity of the Greater Metro, but it’s the spot to visit if you’re wandering down South. The Morning After boasts of a very diverse menu, from Polish meals, Mexican Plates, Classic Filipino combos, to English sets. Their Full English Breakfast Meal is packed with everything British – sausage, eggs, hash, you name it. Our favorite would be their Steak and Eggs though, a plate of juicy steak slab with eggs on the side which you can pair with either a serving of salad or pancakes.
