Din Tai Fung is a testament to that retaining the quality of their food as new food trends come and go. When they first opened, people lined up for their xiao long bao and pork buns, and until now continue to serve these with top quality. At the time when salted egg-flavored food had its moment, some that rode on the trend died down, while others remained classics. Din Tai Fung’s Golden Lava Salted Egg Yolk Bun (P85/2 pieces) is one of those salted egg dishes that is here to stay. The Crabby Fatty Omurice (P350) is one of their specialties, made with shredded crab meat, garlic, onions, ebiko, topped with a creamy toro-toro egg in a pool of aligue cream. It’s an indulgent and unique take on the famous Japanese omurice, a dish that often becomes viral when it comes to food videos. Each aspect of UCC Clockwork’s omurice is excellent on its own, even more so when combined. The flavor of the crab is highlighted without overpowering the egg’s creaminess and fluffiness, and even the rice is loaded with flavor. No wonder this has become a crowd favorite!

As most brunch places would, Wildflour offers a variety of egg-centric dishes, and one of the best is the Shakshouka (P430). This Middle Eastern dish is made with braised tomatoes, baked eggs, mint, and cilantro. This spot in Tomas Morato is actually a third-wave coffee shop that also serves different pastas, sandwiches, rice plates, and more. Their best-selling pasta is called Mr. Egoy and Ms. Eggy (P310), made with squid ink tagliatelle. It is reminiscent of a classic Italian carbonara, but made modern with salted egg cream sauce and a 63º poached egg. To add another salty, savory kick, it’s topped with tons of bacon bits.
