Being in business since 2014, Backyard Kitchen + Brew has been known for their made from scratch honest-to-goodness dishes. They're definitely comfort food done right and we bet you know that already. Whether it's for a quick bite or you're celebrating something special, there's something for you from their wide-ranging menu. Here are a few of their classic favorites and a look at their new dishes you wish you're munching on right now.
Who would have thought that nachos and mac & cheese wouldn't be weird, at all? If you're coming in with a big group, order the Mac and Cheese Nachos (P485) for starters. It is a bed of warm nacho chips, generously topped with mac and cheese, bacon, homemade longganisa, jalapeño, sour cream, pico de gallo and fresh guacamole smothered in cheese sauce.
For something that's healthier, order the Tinapa & Quinoa Salad with Honey Balsamic Vinegar (P295): tinapa flakes, quinoa, mixed greens, salted egg, tomatoes and pickled onions tossed in a honey balsamic vinegar dressing.
In case you don't know it yet, they have flatbreads that has the perfect thin and crispy crust. Order the Four Cheese & Truffle (P295) if you're seeking for light and simple but bursting with flavor from the melted mozzarella, cheddar, ricotta and bleu cheese and finished off with a drizzle of truffle oil. A visit is not complete if you don't order their melt-in-your-mouth chicken skin and they have it on their flatbread! The Salted Egg Chicken Skin (P295) has salted egg yolk, their famous crispy chicken skin, cherry tomatoes, mozarella and ricotta.
A fan of chicken? We are too! Their Waffle Breaded Fried Chicken (P285/1pc; P435/2pcs) are coated in waffle breading and fried until golden brown. It is then served with maple butter and melts on the chicken's skin while it's still hot, a side of sauteed kale, sriracha ketchup and get this: ciabatta toasts which are slathered with whipped bone marrow! Can't decide if you want pork or poultry? Get the Ribs & Fried Chicken (P890) which is a serving of a half slab of coffee-crusted babyback ribs and two pieces of waffle chicken with cinnamon sugar with maple butter.
A part of their new offerings, the Thrice-cooked Crispy Cheek (P325) may not be as sinful as it looks since the pork cheek has been cooked three times: stewed, roasted then grilled. It is sitting on top of black rice, sauteed kale, caramelized onions has an adobo hoisin reduction on the side where you can dip the meat to. There's also the Drunken Mussels (P275): local mussels in a beer and lime soda broth, garlic, onions and cilantro that's perfect with the bread it is served with or, you know, a warm cup of rice!
If you find yourself at Backyard in the afternoon and prefer a lighter snack, they have pasta dishes as well. Choose from the Uni Carbonara, Prawn Alfredo with Salted Egg, Nose To Tail Fettucini or the Meatball Linguini! They have a few interesting dessert choices on the menu as well but the Pizzookie (P385) might be the most popular. It is baked-to-order chewy chocolate chip cookie with a mantecado ice cream sitting on it and dusted with rock salt served on an iron skillet.
