Born out love for the perfect cup of joe, the smell of new books and warm comfort food, partners Jim and Saab Bacarro and Pao and Kristia Roco thought it was an excellent idea to bring them all together. Besides the cafe being a great escape from your busy day, they also have a number of dishes you can munch on while listening to their well-curated playlist and sipping on their specialty coffee they get from YKW Roasters, a product of the EDSA Beverage Design Group they took barista lessons at. 

Order The Dark Knight Rice (P245), their version of the classic champorado using dark malagos chocolate from Davao served with some crispy danggit on the side or a classic grilled cheese which you can never be wrong about. It has three kinds of cheese – mozzarella, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese – tucked in sourdough bread which they make themselves. You'd have to thank us later but you can't miss on their big fat giant chewy cookies!

If you're a coffee lover seeking to relax with good tunes, Uke Box has everything you need under one roof. They have open mic nights and offers a crash course in ukelele to show anyone can play the instrument. To make your visit even more interesting, they feature a selfie coffee where they print your chosen photo on top of their blended drink for only P220.

Well, they aren't just known for their lovely interior but they're famous for their food and drink choices, as well. One of which are the Crispy Tacos (P270) which uses crispy parmesan instead of the usual corn tortilla to hold slices of Asada steak, cilantro cream sauce and quail eggs together. They're also proud of their milkshakes – salted caramelsutra, charlie's golden ticket, vanilla malt and kimye – each priced at only P190.

Tucked in the quiet area of Legazpi Village in Makati, Yardstick doesn't kid when it comes to their coffee. According to their website, the store acts as the main distribution center for their coffee, machines and equipment. They also have a space for training workshops and a coffee bar for those who want to taste their coffee and see the machines in action. 

The area has a minimalist design with pops of color here and there. They're known for dishes that are perfect for brunch and of course, their thick and crisp buttermilk waffles with four toppings to choose from – purple yam, salted caramel, lemon curd and butterscotch. They also have a chai latte, housemade sodas, tea and hot or iced chocolate drinks you can order if you're not a fan of caffeinated drinks but you still prefer hanging out at their chill spot.
