Tyler's Cafe is a new neigborhood cafe along Katipunan Avenue across Ateneo, and is now rolling out all-day breakfast favorites and comfort food hits, including your essential cup of great coffee to jumpstart your day. As with the existing concepts of couple Jutes and Cello Templo (Cello's doughnuts and Gino's pizzas), food here is handled with much love and care, homemade and made from scratch whenever possible, and championing local ingredients. While the pizza restaurant is named after the couple's firstborn son, the cafe is named after Tyler, their daughter.
The cafe is still in its soft opening stage, with the menu yet to be final, but many solid choices can already be enjoyed, such as the Ricotta Pancakes (P275)
with strawberries, strawberry jam, cream, almonds, basil, and syrup -- theirs are lighter compared to very thick and syrup-drenched stacks more common, and the pancakes themselves are thinner and have a pleasant fluffy bite. Another sweet and fruity breakfast option is the French Toast Brulee (P175) served with slices of banana and pineapple, cream, and syrup.
Eggs served on any dish always seem to make it sunnier and happier, like a classic Eggs Benedict (P360) which you can order at Tyler's. Here, you get two poached eggs with hollandaise, topping strips of homemade bacon. The rye bread they use is made in house. Heavier hitting mains include Brisket and Eggs (P385), a slice of the most unctuous brisket served with two eggs, and rice cooked in the brisket's fat; bacon lovers will enjoy their homey plate of homemade bacon and eggs.
Tyler's also offers assorted sandwiches, fruit juices, and other drinks aside from coffee. But coffee here, especially if you love it, must not be missed. Spend the morning or afternoon at this crisp, new space filled with lots of natural light, and sip on a cold Dirty Latte (P145) or a hot cup of Gibraltar (P125/5oz) to perk you up.
Yes, there's dessert here aside from the sweet breakfast items like French toast and pancakes. Try the Strawberry (P225) for just the right kind of sweetness to end your meal--it's two slices of homemade brown butter almond cake served with strawberry jam and Baguio strawberries. It is also served with vanilla ice cream they make themselves, and finished off with chocolate crumbs. It's a good match for hot coffee, any time of the day.
Tyler's Cafe is now open at 317 Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City, right beside Gino's Brick Oven Pizza. The cafe is open daily from 10am to 9pm. Call (02) 225-7462, like Tyler's on Facebook and follow on Instagram (tylerscafeph).
