The world's largest milkshake bar, Shakeaway, opens its first store in Manila at UP Town Center, Quezon City. These milkshakes aren't one of those Instagram-worthy drinks we usually see online but every sip will take you to milkshake heaven, nonetheless. Shakeaway which opened its first store in the sunny seaside town of Bournemouth, England boasts themselves as the re-inventor of milkshakes since 1993.
Now with over 50 stores worldwide, they continue to share the phenomenon they've created that is growing throughout the world with their expansive menu of over 180 different ingredients like M&Ms, Kitkat, fresh fruits, Oreo cookies, Skittles, Wonk nerds, Nutella and Lindt to name a few.
The milkshakes are what they are most proud of and you can't taste it anywhere says CEO Peter Dickson in an interview. He says creating milkshakes may sound easy but it isn't, he shares they need a certain temperature for the ice cream for it to be perfect every time. For the flavors, they are split into different categories from fruity to chocolatey, cakey to biscuity, sweety to soda and everything elsey which ranges from P190 to P250.
Every international Shakeaway store features a special menu and the Manila store isn't an exception. They have chocnut, chocolate coated polvoron, choco mallows, corn jackfruit, macapuno, pandan cupcake, peanut kisses, pili nuts ube and one under their named shakes called Jose (P250/regular; P310/large) which has ube & macapuno and pinipig on top. Shakeaway also offers hot milkshakes for everything on the menu and CEO Peter Dickson notes that it boosts the flavor of up to 50%! Now, that's something to try on our next visit.
They also offer the most expensive milkshake in the world called the Millionaire's Milkshake (P900) which has Lindt 85% dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts topped with whipped cream and real 23 carat edible gold flakes. If you're feeling a little adventurous, they have the Wicked Wendy (P250/regular; P310/large), has frozen peas & pickled onions topped with whipped cream.
Alongside their world famous milkshakes, they also offer their re-invented frozen yogurts, smoothies, all-natural shaved ice and low-fat fries that are hot and crispy and freshly cooked in under two minutes with no deep frying.
