This new churros place in Makati is causing some buzz, with foodies lining up to get their fix of Spanish churros and xuxos paired with chocolate.

Leave it to the Spanish team of Las Flores and Rambla restaurants to introduce churros in the bustling Manila foodie scene as truly authentic and delicious. Churreria La Lola opened last week at the basement of Power Plant Mall in Rockwell, serving classic churros and flavored churros. Currently, customers can enjoy a cup of warm chocolate with classic churros in 6, 12, or 18 pieces (Churros Classicos – P110/6pcs, P195/12pcs, P275/18pc). Fun, flavored churros are also available: there's Churroreo (P275), which are mini black choco churros, vanilla ice cream and caramel; Chocochurros (P195/6pcs, P345/12pcs, P495/18pc) dipped with dark chocolate, and Churros Bravos (P195), a savory rendition of the Spanish fritters, mini churros made salty and served with salsa brava.

The newly opened churros joint also offers other Spanish delicioso treats like Xuxos (P120), a deep fried cream filled pasty, a typical snack or breakfast item in Spain commonly paired with tea. Churreria La Lola serves xuxos stuffed with Nutella, Dulce de leche, Strawberry jam, and Peanut butter. They also serve Horchata (P250), a refreshing and sweet Latin American 'rice water' beverage made with herbs, seeds, and nuts. Sandwiches, Juices, and Illy Coffee also available.
