I still can't get over the fact that Tous Les Jours' 6-inch Rose Inspiration Fresh Cream Cake only costs P498.

Rose Inspiration Fresh Cream Cake

For one, it's a beautiful cake-- stunning, even. The entire thing is a showcase of masterful cake decorating skills: the shape is a flawless bowl, the the icing's rosy swirl is uninterrupted, and not one speck of (real) strawberry dust is out of place. Even the dew drops (lovely addition, if I may add) are consistent in size and distance!

It'll be love at first sight when you encounter this cake but be prepared to fall further after sampling a slice. Pillow-soft, sufficiently moist, and just rightly sweet, this light strawberry chiffon features real strawberry bits; you'd never feel shortchanged.

Now, really. Can you blame me if I'm having a hard time believing that such a well-put cake is made in batches and is sold in a mall?

Yup. You've read that right. I found Tous Les Jours's Rose Inspiration Fresh Cream Cake in a mall.

Tous Les Jours (say: tu-le-zhoo), located at the ground floor of The Block, SM North Edsa is the first Philippine branch of Korea's leading premium bakery chain. While mall-based bakeshops are already a dime a dozen (to the dismay of the gourmets) in this country, Tous Les Jours (French phrase for 'every day') distinguishes itself from the others by offering Korea's frozen dough technology.

“Our tagline is: Authentic Bakery Baked Freshly Everyday. Korea's frozen dough technology enables us to serve fresh bread quickly in multiple branches,” Andrea Amado, Marketing Director of Tous Les Jours explained. Their dough is made everyday in the commissary, frozen to below zero temperature, and then transported to the branch where it will be baked. “That also ensures consistency. The bread you'll taste here is the same you'll get in SM Southmall,” Andrea added.

Now the Rose Inspiration Fresh Cream Cake is one good reason to head to Tous Les Jours as soon as you finish reading this article but there are a lot more in-store at the newly opened bakery.

Milk Bun

Sweet Black Rice Bread with Cream Cheese

As of the moment, the bestsellers in the bread category are the fluffy Milk Bun (P48) with crunchy cookie crumble toppings and custard center, the perfectly flaky Apple Pie Croissant (P48), the mochi-like Sweet Black Rice Bread with Cream Cheese (P48), and the Almond Croissant (P68) showered in sweet cookie batter.

Their French-Asian bread choices are well-received-- better than what the owners expected. But in this season of reunions and gift-giving, it is Tous Les Jours cake-line that is getting so much attention. “It's very hard to guarantee availability. There are customers who get them in big batches!” Andrea enthused. Most customers easily opt for the affordable Rose cake but other options are equally enticing.

Apple Inspiration Cream Cake

Gifting an Apple fanatic? Why not give him or her this Apple Inspiration Cream Cake, sold at P548? Impressing a girl? The Kiss Strawberry (P648), a top-seller in Korea, will stand out among all the generic cakes she'll be getting this year. They also have cheesecakes and tiramisus that are very elegantly-designed, they deserve a spot in a 5-star hotel's cake rack.

All cakes come in cute pastel green boxes (which are keep worthy, by the way) with a plastic knife and cake included. They couldn't get any more party-ready!

If you're one of the many who are still clueless on what to bring for the upcoming reunion, check out Tous Les Jours' quality, but affordable dessert options. The Tous Les Jours cake you'll be bringing to the party is guaranteed to be the table's eye candy.
