Lot 180 - Intricate Edwardian filigree jewelry

“The extensive offering for the season is perfect for those of you who are looking for that special gift for oneself, or for something unique. This is our first Christmas at the Palacio, and we are working to create a full pre-war experience as well as a series of activities that come with our Holiday auction,” comments Camille Lhuillier, General Manager.

Miguel Rosales, CDM’s Head Curator, provides perspective for Living in the Present, Auction 18: “Manila has become extremely discerning in its choice for holiday giving. The Lhuillier family, which manages the house, is extremely pleased with an expansive offering for 2019. We have had a very good turnout for our Christmas auctions, with a wide range of lot prices that will have pieces for every home, and style.”

Lot 170 – The Casa proudly presents a signed serigraph, "Orilla XV" in Living for the Present

Casa de Memoria is delighted to provide an eclectic selection appealing to the tastes and style preferences of buyers with its consigned collection. Highlighted is esteemed abstractionist Fernando Zobel y Montojo with a serigraph called “Orilla XV” (Lot 170), focusing on the Spanish river Jucar. Calling the series "Orilla" or shore, the work captures the river's continuous flow in abstracted color.

From the restrained to the ornate, a diverse representation of furniture by master craftsmen includes a pair of Spanish bargueño (portable desk) in walnut and other exotic wood, with marquetry of bone inlay, from the 20th century; and (Lot 86), a Napoleon III Style Bonheur-du-jour (lady’s writing desk) made of exotic wood parquetry from 19th century France.

Lot 67 - A Spanish bargueño (portable desk) in walnut and other exotic wood, with marquetry of bone inlay, from the 20th century.

Other standout works include a fine collection of dinner sets and ware. Among the works with distinguished provenance is a Heinrich and Co. Gold-encrusted Dinner Set (Lot 215) of 100 pieces from the 20th century. Additional dining ware highlights include (Lot 171), "Black Knight" Empire Style Gilded Porcelain Set of 50, decorated in neoclassical gold foliates.

A pair of exceptional oil painting done in the French school are presented in (Lot 143) and (Lot 144) which portray beach scenes. Gilded works include a Spanish 19th century mirror (Lot 28) and a Portuguese vermeil wine cooler (Lot 76). The Living for the Present collection also illustrates the broad taste of the buying public, with boudoir pieces like (Lot 3), Vizagapatam Boxes from the 19th century, and (Lot 50), a French Hand Mirror in Carved Ivory.
