a Kanyang Paglalayag

In “Sa Kanyang Paglalayag”, de Leon will conduct the University of the Philippines Manila Chorale, The Lighter Side Movement, Vox Animae, and the Commission on Audit Audire Choir in an evening of sacred and secular choral music, highlighting works by local composers Eudenice Palaruan, Alejandro Consolacion II, and Ily Matthew Maniano.

Eman de Leon Jr. is one of the most sought-after choral clinicians in the Philippines today. Formerly a faculty member in the University of the Philippines College of Music Conducting Department and Extension Program, he holds a Masters in Music and Bachelor in Music Education degree from the university.

He served as the Assistant Conductor of the UP Concert Chorus and sang Bass-Baritone with the Philippine Madrigal Singers. Currently, he is the Music Director of the UP Manila Chorale

He regularly adjudicates in choral competitions nationwide and travels all over the country to teach and give workshops to choirs and conductors. Internationally, he has served as jury in competitions in Poland and Indonesia.

He was recently accepted in the highly selective Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) Program in the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA. Handpicked to be the only incoming student in the DMA in Choral Conducting, he was also granted by the university a full scholarship and teaching assistantship. He will begin his doctoral studies this August.

“Sa Kanyang Paglalayag” will feature the UP Manila Chorale, the multi-awarded official performing group for choral music of the University of the Philippines Manila, who is also set to represent the Philippines this July in the 2nd Tokyo International Choir Competition. Joining them will also be two church choirs – Mandaluyong-based church choir and 2019 Clarion Call Chorale Competition Champion The Lighter Side Movement and Vox Animae, resident choir of the St. Augustine Parish and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in de Leon’s hometown, Baliwag, Bulacan – and the COA Audire Choir, first prize winner of the Nationwide Commission on Audit Choral Competition in 2017 and 2018.
