About the Event
For the month of May, Tin-aw Art Gallery presents “Ang Gaga (The Fool)”, a group exhibition featuring the works of Ambie Abaño, Bea Alcala, Jef Carnay, Imeda Cajipe-Endaya, Gab Ferrer, Julie Lluch, Ginoe, Lee Paje, Celeste Quilantang, Katti Sta. Ana, Jezzel Wee with Brenda V. Fajardo.
The exhibition takes inspiration from the tarot card series of visual artist and educator Brenda V. Fajardo which intermingles personal narrative and the socio-political landscape with mystic symbols . Artists render their own visions challenged by the question ‘How does one perceive new beginnings or change?'
‘Ang Gaga’ ‘The Fool’ or ’The Jester’ card in particular is a double edged sword depending on how one draws it as the card can be interpreted with optimistic new beginnings or unpredictable consequences. This wild card does not seek a singular statement but rather the sense of exploration and challenge in this hyperconnected reality. In the pursuit of the journey of life where one knows not where one goes, Ang Gaga explores possibilities and possible delusions.
