About the Event

Electronic synth pop duo First Hate from Denmark is coming to Manila for the very first time on April 25, 2019 for a night of good music and dancing at the Johnnie Walker House in Poblacion, Makati.

First Hate Live in Manila

First Hate, comprised of Anton Falck Gansted and Joakim Nørgaard, started from the underground music scene in Copenhagen. They released their first EP, the self-titled and Garage Band-produced “First Hate” in 2014. But it wasn’t until the following year, 2015, that the band started gaining traction, selling out headlining shows in Copenhagen and in London. Soon enough, their songs were rotating on national radio and the duo was billed to headline Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, to which they were received triumphantly by thousands of fans.

In 2017, First Hate released their highly-anticipated debut album “A Prayer for the Unemployed” to good reviews. Renowned online music magazine Pitchfork described them as “bright, synthetic pop music from yearning melodies, sparkling Euro trance keyboards, and padding club beats” and claimed that the appeal of their music is “in the tension it draws between DIY practice and pop sensibility, juxtaposing underground temperament with choruses that soar.”

Finally, in 2018, First Hate embarked on their very first world tour, playing shows all over Europe, Russia, the Middle East, China, and now, the Philippines.

Hosting First Hate’s one-night only show in Manila on April 25th is the Johnnie Walker House, located at Makati’s trendiest district for midnight grub and hip bars — Poblacion. The Johnnie Walker House is said to be the biggest scotch bar in the Philippines, housing the complete line of colored labels of the world-famous scotch, even including their “Rare Drams” line which is said to be Johhnie Walker’s set of its rarest and most expensive drinks. Johnnie Walker House hosts music events every week, as well as occasional game nights.

Get ready to party to some good music and fine drinks on April 25th as First Hate whisks you away with their synth pop tunes. The charm of First Hate lies in their ability to create music that sends you in a whimsical trance, as in one of their hit songs “In My Dreams” – a perfect tune to dance to against the backdrop of Poblacion’s neon lights.

Door opens at 8PM on April 25th, with the show opening to performances by ACTIV, Pillow Talk, Lustbass, and Ena Mori. Door charge is P500.

First Hate in Manila is presented by Johnnie Walker at the Johnnie Walker House in Poblacion, Makati, and is supported by Fred Perry. This event is brought to you by Decibel Music Group デシベル.
