While summer is usually seen as the perfect time to take a break after a year of studying and or working hard, it's also a good time for people to go out of their comfort zones and learn a new skill or two. And because there are so many things to do in metro, you're never really going to run out of things to do, 

We compiled 6 summer workshops that go from sports to arts to make the search for that new skill easier for you! Check them out below: 

PETA Summer Workshop

The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) will be holding the annual PETA's Workshop Express this April which will be open for everyone from the little ones to the professionals! Some of the courses taught to the younger ones include dance, puppetry, storytelling, and drama improvisation. Adults, on the other hand, can choose beginner to intermediate theater courses on acting and musical theater, depending on their interests.

Atlantis' Advanced Musical Theater for Adults 

For the adults who already have theater experience, Atlantis' Advanced Musical Theater for Adults workshop is for them. The workshop will culminate with a production of Rent at the RCBC Theater, letting them experience what it's like to be a part of a professional theater production. 

Newbies, on the other hand, can enroll in a Basic Musical Theater Workshop, which will give them a crash course on everything they need to know when it comes to singing, acting, and dancing for theater.

Galvez Atelier's Basic Classical Drawing Workshop

Always wanted to start on classical drawing but don't have any idea how to? Maybe a workshop with Galvez Atelier's going to help you kickstart the new hobby! Priced at P12000 for a 10-day course (30 hours), the workshop will teach students not only the basics of drawing, but also how to observe and analyze artworks.

Parkour Workshop for Kids

For the kids who want to know what it's like to be a ninja and learn parkour/free running, there's Ninja Academy's Parkour Workshop which would teach students the basics in a span of 6 Saturday or Sunday schedules. The workshop is priced at P3600 for 6 sessions + P1200 Annual Fee, and is already inclusive of Level 1 Ninja Kit, Milo Sports Clinic Certificate, and an Accidental Insurance Coverage. Milo Summer Sports Clinic 

If you want the kids to learn another sport that's not parkour, the Milo Summer Sports Clinic offers courses on volleyball, tennis, swimming, arnis, wushu, and more. There are many available programs depending on the sport and the location, so you would have to check Milo's official website for more information on the schedule and enrollment process for these workshops. 

CCA Manila's Young Chefs Boot Camp

CCA Manila offers workshops on basic culinary skills for kids who are as young as seven years old through the YCBC courses. The workshops are led by well-trained CCA chef-instructors, who will be teaching kids cooking techniques, as well as kitchen safety and sanitation.

Adulting for Kids: Life Skills Through Art

Ayala Museum's stART! summer program offers six adulting workshops for children ages 7 to 12, with each workshop tying a form of art into skills necessary for their future. These include the study of ceramics, maritime vessels, design and sewing, modern art, basic sketching, and money management. Each session is priced P750 while availing all the sessions will cost P4,275. There are also special discounts for AGC and Ayala Museum members.

Summer Art Workshops by Young Artists' Studio

The youngest minds always have the freest imaginations, which is why it is a good time to enhance their skills and creativity with the help of visual arts. The Summer Art Workshops offers sessions on painting, drawing, sculpture, art for beginners, comics illustration, and fashion illustration. And the good thing about this is that there are venues all around Metro Manila including Makati, Pasig/Ortigas, Alabang, Bonifacio High Street, Rockwell, Serendra, San Juan, Quezon Avenue, and Loyola Heights.

Junior Chefs Academy

If your little ones are showing interest with the culinary arts, then enrolling them to the Junior Chefs Academy this summer might be a good idea. Brought to you by Enderun Colleges, the Junior Chefs Academy will be teaching your children the proper handling of kitchen equipment, the different courses and meals, and the right techniques in cooking. Who knows, helping them hone their skills in cooking might just make them the next master chef in the near future.

The Archery Academy Summer Program

Estancia Kiddie Summer Workshop

Whether it's singing, hip-hop, or photography you want the kids to learn, there's the Estancia Kiddie Summer Workshop to make sure they end the summer with a new skill! Summer Workshop by Kids Acts Philippines

For this year's summer workshop, Kids Acts Philippines will be doing a production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The workshop will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from April 10 to June 1, and is open for kids aged 3-7  (Kinder Theater), 8-10 (Children's Theater), 11-13 (Junior Theater), and 14 and up (Teen Theater). The fee is priced at P10000, inclusive of workshop materials, costume rental, and recital fee.

Repertory Philippines Workshop for the Performing Arts

No matter what your age is, it's never too late to start out in performing arts, and Repertory Philippines is here to help with that. This year, the theater company will be holding two batches of workshops, and are open for kids, teens, and adults, where they will be learning all there is to learn on acting, singing, and dancing for theater. Workshop fee is at P10000, while the Adults Master Class has a fee of P12000.
