Concutio - Joey Ofludor: A Solo Exhibition

Joey Ofludor, born Jose Templonuevo Rodulfo in Manila, is a surrealist painter known among his peers for his attention to detail, use of bold, rich colors and nature themes.  In June 2017,   he won first prize and best in detail at the Art Work Sharing (AWS) global painting competition for his 4x5 ft painting, Koi Pond 3.  AWS is an international arts promotion and appreciation institute based in Glasgow City, Scotland.

Joey’s works have been featured  in a number of group exhibits in the 1990s and in solo exhibits in the same decade.  A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, College of Architecture and Fine Arts, he taught Humanities and Theatre Arts at La Consolacion College.  Ofludor has also worked as set designer in Ishmael Bernal’s movies:  Pahiram ng Isang Umaga, Dear Teacher and Wating.  He is a member of a number of artist groups:  Grupong Contempo, Antipolo Art Group, Pinoy na Pintor Group, and Obra Meastra Group.

His most recent oil paintings will be featured in a solo art exhibit, dubbed Concutio, at the Sining Kamalig Art Gallery, Upper Ground Floor, Ali Mall, Araneta Center, Quezon City from February 17 to March 16, 2019.   In Concutio, (which is  the Latin word meaning to shake or agitate), Joey invites his audience to reflect on current events and society through his powerful, thought provoking surrealist oil, and multi-media paintings where he throws in surprising detail using sculptural elements.

Poetry Writing Contest

As an added feature of the exhibit, the producer, ARTWORX PHILIPPINES, is holding a poetry writing contest that focuses on one of Ofludor’s paintings, which remains untitled.  To join the contest, which is open to college students, participants must name the painting and write a poem about it.  The painting will be featured at the exhibit and may be viewed at Sining Kamalig Art Gallery starting February 2, 2019 and on-line at artworxphilippines.com.  Mechanics of the contest are available on-line. Art Workshops

Ofludor also shares his mastery of painting in two acrylic  painting workshops on March 2, for Fine Arts students, and on March 3 for hobbyists.  Each class is limited to 20 participants, on a first come first served basis.  Details of the hands-on workshops are on the given website.  Interested parties may sign up at (management@artworxphilippines.com).  The workshops will be at the Sining Kamalig Art Gallery, in Ali Mall, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days.

Art Forum

On March 9, there will be forum for art students, artists and enthusiasts and collectors will be held.  Dubbed The Business of Art, it is a discussion on how artists can establish a career in the visual arts, featuring Mr.  Romy Guttierez, as main speaker and panelists: Simoun Balboa, Co- Gallery Director of Sining Kamalig and Marites Armero, Co-founder of Artworx Philippines. This event is open to the public for free.
