Artinformal presents new solo exhibitions by Ella Mendoza at the gallery’s Makati location opening on Aug 4, 2018, 6pm until Sept 1, 2018.
Ella Mendoza teases and tickles the mind in For Your Convenience, her first solo show. By using images of the disposable—instant noodle cups, paper plates, plastic utensils—all painstakingly sculpted in clay, a medium that demands utmost patience and dedication, we are presented with works that weigh down ideas of the fast and easy through the elevated status of the art object.
Ella Mendoza (b. 1993) recently completed her second degree in Art History from the University of the Philippines. A painting major by training, she started doing ceramics in 2015 and has since been an active presence in the field. She is currently a facilitator at the UP College of Fine Arts Ceramics Studio. She helped organized key international pottery and ceramics events such as Tropical Blaze and Paglulual.
