About the Event

After the success of the Cultural Arts Events Organizer’s production of “The American Songbook : A Retrospective” last May 12 at the Filfest Festival  followed by a series of outreach concerts in Baguio,  CAEO partners with Ayala Museum in bringing this production of  to the  lobby in  Makati City on June 17 at 6 p.m. in celebration of Father's Day.

The American Songbook

The concert gives a glimpse of the evolution of the great American musical. It relives the music of the four pillars of American music—George Gershwin, Jerome Kerns, Cole Porter and Richard Rodgers as well as their successors such as Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Schwartz, Stephen Larson and Stephen Sondheim.

The heartwarming opus will be performed by four of the country most promising young artists: sopranos Mheco Manlangit and Jasmin Salvo,  tenor Jan Brian Astom with pianist Gabriel Allan Paguirigan.  Songs include Cole Porter’s “So in Love,” “In the Still of the Night,”  Bernstein’s “Maria,” Kerns’  “All the Things You Are,” to name a few.

Manlangit is the recent grand prize winner of the Jovita Fuentes Vocal Competition and the only winner in the vocal category of the First Singapore International Music Competition. She debuted with the Young Artists Series of CAEO at the Ayala Museum last year and was handpicked by tenor Arthur Espiritu to join his concert, “Night of Love,” last February.

Salvo is the second prize winner of the Jovita Fuentes Vocal Competition and has performed in many University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music productions.

Astom started singing only in 2015 with Prof. Ma. Cecilia Valena at the UP College of Music.  His first major performance was in the re-staging of De Leon’s Noli Me Tangere at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He was a semi-finalist in the 2018 Jovita Fuentes Vocal Competition and is under the tutelage of Philippines’ top tenor, Arthur Espiritu.

Paguirigan is the grand prize winner of the 2011 National Music Competition for Young Artists, the PTGP Piano Competition,  2013 Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra Young Pianists Competition, top prize in the recent Henrietta Limjuco Piano Competition.  He is one of the most sought after assisting artists and has performed with major musicians.

The concert is made possible through the support of Lyric Piano, DZFE.FM The Master's Touch.   Tickets at P800 and P500 are available at Ticketworld +632-891-9999) and CAEO (+63918-347-3027, +63920-954-0053 or +632-782-7164 and +632-997-9483).
