About the Event
The University of the Philippines SOCCSKSARGEN, a duly recognized organization for students from Region XII based at UP Diliman, Quezon City, continues to uphold honor and excellence through its objectives namely (1) to develop camaraderie and intimate bonds of friendship amongst the university students who come from the said region, (2) to promote a better cultural and socio-political awareness of Region XII and Mindanao, and lastly, (3) to extend services to the youth of Region XII by initiating interactive activities to reconnect with them and present an exciting and fun learning opportunity.
Hence, to attain these objectives, our organization will be holding Quizmas 2017, now on its 11th year, on the 21st day of December at Trade Hall, SM City General Santos with the theme: "Honoring SOCCSKSARGEN’s Past: Guiding the Way to a Better Future" Quizmas 2017 consists of three events: the Quizmas Challenge, the Poster-Making Competition, and the Spelling Contest.
The Quizmas Challenge is an annual quiz show featuring the brightest minds of the Region’s youth all competing for academic excellence. The quiz show is an evident manifestation of our continued commitment in advocating academic competence and interaction among high school students in Region XII.
The Poster-Making Competition aims to harness the creativity of the students and to promote the culture and arts of the region in line with this year's theme.
The Spelling Contest, open only for students in Grades 5 and 6, aims to foster competitive yet friendly environment among the participants. It is also the organizations way of extending its reach to the elementary school students of SOCCSKSARGEN.
