About the Event

The first F&B Summit can be summed up in one sentence: A celebration of the F&B industry’s power and influence without overlooking the realities that come with it.

F&B Summit

To keep a critical eye on the industry is something that F&B Report has strived for in years and the inaugural summit is a reimagined iteration of that purpose. Prevalent throughout the event is a yearning for exploration compressed into a half-day affair on Oct. 5 at Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier.

Headlining the summit are guest speakers championing a core issue in today’s F&B landscape: Abba Napa of The Moment Group on how to successfully launch and run a food business; Good Food Community’s Charlene Tan  on why social enterprise is the cool new thing today; 2016 Asia’s Best Female Chef Margarita Forés on establishing food diversity; and food consultant Peter Pysk on how to appease the millennial market.

The rest of the panelists are just as destined to drive home the point. The Farmers/Producers panel employs a stellar cast of experts featuring Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Berna Romulo-Puyat, Ritual’s Bea Misa-Crisostomo, DowntoEarth’s Nicolo Aberasturi, Kitayama’s Vicky Lauchengco and Earthbeat Farms’ Enzo Pinga to look into the current state of farming, the value in going organic, and the trend of plant-based cuisine.

Leading the discussion on the challenges and promise of hotels, resorts, and culinary schools are Enderun Colleges’  Asst. Dean of the College of Hospitality Management Bel Castro, Managing Director of Apotheke Spirits’ Simon Côté, Fundacion Pacita’s Patsy Abad, and Center for Culinary Arts, Manila’s Liza Morales.

And incorporating a heavy dose of industry imagery into the expanding restaurant subtext is a quintet of F&B authorities keen on offering perspectives on the rise of food parks, celebrity mixologists, and the overabundance of new restaurants: Sarsa’s JP Anglo, The Test Kitchen MNL’s Josh Boutwood, FooDee Global Concepts’ Eric Dee, restaurant owner Happy Ongpauco-Tiu, and beverage consultant and bar owner Lee Watson.

It’s an inspiring display of knowledge and insight meeting in the middle to create an impact that’s absolutely beneficial to the industry. Through these inclusive conversations, vibrant ideas, and cohesive dialogues that shed light on the industry’s most pressing matters, the F&B Summit is a reminder to continuously reshape the F&B narrative towards a more progressive, innovative future.
