About the Event
Altro Mondo Arte Contemporanea is pleased to present Otherness, a four-man exhibition by Philippine artists: Poch Naval, Raul Rodriguez, Florence Cinco, and Neil Pasilan at the Altro Mondo gallery at the Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences, (3rd Floor, The Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences. LP Leviste Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City).
These four artists gather to execute works all dealing with the concept of The Other in the field of visual arts. Other, in much simpler terms, could be interpreted as that which is not us; and therefore revealing the connection we have directly to the Other in order to affirm ourselves. According to Poch Naval, “… the Other is already inside of us without our being thoroughly aware of it and we bring it out… to realize its presence in and around us through art.”
Poch Naval is a self-taught artist who, during the last 14 years, has been actively exhibiting his works in major galleries in the Philippines. His works are characterized by a deeply contemplative feel. Raul Rodriguez has a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts and Christian Studies and has also exhibited widely in both group and solo shows. Florence Cinco is an artist who has been recognized widely through his visual arts achievements mainly in the field of sculpture and mixed media. Neil Pasilan is also a self-taught artist whose works are associated with social realism.
