About the Event

For more than a decade, the Music Appreciation Club for Instrumentalists (MAC-I) of SPCP has spearheaded music events promoting musicians, both from the school and outside the school. One of these music events is the annual Open Jam wherein high school and college students perform songs according to the theme which differs every year. Amplified will happen on January 28, 2017, 1:00pm-4:00pm at the High School Tent of St. Paul College Pasig.

With the theme “Amplified: Jamming to the Retro Beat”, the organization is staging this year’s Open Jam with a fresh set of musicians from different schools performing songs from the 60s to the 90s. These include Kanken, Blue Rhythm, Rac, Finn Morrison and Kylie Parks, Bandang XP, Standstill, Pistol, The Acquainted, and the SPCP HS Faculty.

Ranging from acoustic sets to alternative rock, the event would surely appeal not only to people who lived during those years, but also to anyone who would like to listen to music to discover.

"MAC-I's annual Open Jam, in my opinion, is more like a get-together with music than a formal concert, it's an event wherein friends can relax and listen to budding musicians and simply appreciate their craft. This year, with the theme of retro songs and social advocacy, we hope to instill in the performers and audience members the importance of reminiscing and gaining inspiration from the past masters, and to emphasize the power of the song in solving the pressing issues of today's world.” says Melissa Ramos, President of the school’s Center for Music - Instrumentalists.
