Easter Sunday at the Park
About the Event
The Muntinlupa Dance Company, together with the Indak-Lahi Dance Company, take center stage for Concert at the Park’s Easter Sunday celebration. And since the Open-Air Auditorium is still under rehabilitation, the concert venue will be at the Central Section of the Rizal Park, Manila, at the back of the Rizal Monument.
Concert at the Park is a weekly public service project of the Department of Tourism, under Sec. Ramon Jimenez, Jr., the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC), under Executive Director Juliet H. Villegas, and the People’s Television. NPDC Chief of the Cultural & Public Affairs Mr. Federico A. Edos is the Executive in Charge of the project. Gie V. Arnold writes the script.
Easter marks the rebirth of Jesus Christ and the renewal of the Christian faith. And because the Philippines has one of the biggest Catholic population, it is celebrated in a very festive atmosphere, as is the tradition in the country ? the Filipino way.
For this Easter Sunday presentation, the Muntinlupa Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Ms. Del Micor Camins, will showcase the celebration in dance, with a collection of well-loved Filipino songs and dances that depicts life as a significant celebration. It will be composed of THE PASSAGE (a collection of movements and meanings on how the mountain people celebrate their way of living); AZOTEA DE AMOR (a collection of Spanish-inspired dances depicting the celebration of love and life; EXOTIC MINDANAO (a montage of a hundred treasures and colorful tribes depicting a colorful and rich culture; and COUNTRYSIDE GLITZ (a daily celebration of life in the rural lowlands).
Admission to Concert at the Park is free of charge. The public is cordially invited.
