About the Event

The mounting of "Cory ng EDSA: A Filipino Musical" - the sequel to critically-acclaimed and longest-running, all-original Filipino production, "Ako si Ninoy" is another groundbreaking Philippine Stagers Foundation (PSF) presentation that soon to hit the Philippine theater scene starting this July till October.

Vincent M. Tañada, Aliw Best Director awardee takes pride in this powerful story he has created and directed in honor of the eleventh President of the Republic of the Philippines. Though he admits he had some struggles finishing the script for this colossal stage production, he was able to whip the script just in time for the opening of their 10th season.

“I was busy doing our summer workshops at PSF when I started working on the script,” says Vince.

“It was my commitment to my group and to the youth that really propelled me to finish ‘Cory ng EDSA’ because through the musical’s message, it doesn’t just elevate our former beloved President to a degree of someone that deserves great honor, but also remind each Filipino of what Cory was when she was still alive and the musical is simply a tribute to all Filipinos as well.

“It is my prayer that all who would come to see the musical will be moved to make a stand and commit to making this country of ours—a better place to live and become proud of our brave race.”

Tañada hopes to duplicate if not surpass the success of ‘Ako si Ninoy’, which had more than 300 plus shows and still counting here and abroad.

Portraying the role of Cory is PSF’s homegrown talent Cindy Maree Liper with Glory Ann Nacional as her alternate.

Tañada also performs in the said latest PSF offering, but no longer as Ninoy. He breathes into the character of a reporter named Peter, who followed the life of Cory Aquino and wrote a book about the first woman President. Among those who take on vital roles are Patrick Adrian Libao as Tañada’s alternate, Jordan Ladra and Regie Caranyagan as Rey, Alex Dorola and Kevin Posadas as Jason, and they are supported by a powerhouse cast of PSF’s other roster of talents—making it as equally big as "Ako si Ninoy".
