Cinemalaya Film Festival
August 2 to 13 (Cultural Center of the Philippines)
The Cinemalaya Film Festival turns 15 this year, and with that comes a new set of full-length and short films that every cinephile should look forward to! If you still haven't planned on which films you want to see, now's the time to start doing so!
Happening this August 2 to 11 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the festival will be showcasing 10 full-length and short films which will also be competing for the big awards. In celebration of another milestone in Cinemalaya's book, the entries will also be brought to more screens in the country. From August 7 to 13, both the full-length and short film entries will also be shown in Evia Lifestyle Center, Glorietta, Greenbelt, Market! Market!, UP Town Center, Trinoma, Ayala Malls Legazpi, Abreeza Davao, Capitol Central Bacolod, Vista Cinemas Iloilo, Vista Cinemas Naga, and Vista Cinemas Pampanga.
LIVE A.I.D.S. G NA G SA 33
August 3 and 4 (Abelardo Hall, College of Music, UP Diliman)
The 33rd installment of the longest-running musical comedy variety show in the country is set for restaging due to popular demand.
After the influx of positive reviews and applauses on social media, netizens have been asking for a rerun of UP SAMASKOM’s “Live A.I.D.S. G na G sa 33” after its initial staging on June 21-23 at Abelardo Hall, UP College of Music.
The comedy theatrical series, Live A.I.D.S., which stands for “Live Ang Istoryang Dinebelop ng Samaskom”, is the show that gave rise to renowned comedians and celebrities of today such as KaladKaren Davila, Tuesday Vargas, Giselle Sanchez, Ate Glo, RS Francisco, and many more. It is written, produced, and performed by resident and alumni members of UP Diliman-based student organization, UP Samahan ng Mag-aaral sa Komunikasyon or UP SAMASKOM.

Titser Ko Si La Salle!
August 1, 2, and 3 (Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium)
In honor of the Tercentenary Celebrations of St. La Salle’s Legacy, the DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild presents Titser ko si La Salle!, a trilogy on educators that get its inspiration from the life and mission of St. John Baptist de La Salle. The plays are written by De La Salle University Literature Professors, Dr. Gen Asenjo, Mr. Genaro R. Gojo-Cruz, and Mr. Maynard Manansala, and directed by Mr. Romualdo Tejada.
“Titser ko si Lasalle!” aims to shed light on the struggles and sacrifices that Filipino teachers face on this present day may it be concerning their occupation or their personal lives. This production is dedicated to the teachers that have touched and inspired the lives of their students whether in the setting of a classroom or beyond the walls of a scholarly institution.
“Titser Ko Si La Salle!” will be making its way onto the stage of the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium, De La Salle University-Manila on August 1 and 2, 2019 at 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM and on August 3, 2019 at 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM. Rak of Aegis

The iconic, Filipino musical phenomenon, Philippine Educational Theater Association’s Rak of Aegis makes a much-awaited return from July-September 2019 at the PETA Theater Center in partnership with Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) and The PhilPop MusicFest Foundation (Philpop).
Since the show opened in 2014, Rak of Aegis has taken Manila, figuratively and literally, by storm! The original Pinoy musical brought one of the greatest OPM icons, The Aegis Band, to the spotlight by featuring their powerful hits and karaoke favorites “Halik,” “Sinta,” “Basang Basa sa Ulan,” and more.
Rak of Aegis was also one of the first Filipino productions which ushered in the trend of jukebox musicals, giving birth to a newfound appreciation for theater and original Pinoy music that crosses all boundaries of social class and age. Today, Rak of Aegis is the longest-running original Pinoy musical in contemporary Philippine theater.
