About the Event

Created by Fundacion Centro Flamenco artistic director Emma Estrada and directed by Leo Rialp, La Luna Roja features an all-Filipino cast, lead by Grupo Nuevo Flamenco, with the special participation of  artists from Spain, the birthplace of flamenco - Javier Martos (bailaor), Isaac Barbero (bailaor) Lujan Garcia Alejandro (cantaor), Ruben Campos (guitarista), Jose Cortes (cajonista).

La Luna Roja

The fiery dance of the gypsies takes center stage in "La Luna Roja" (The Red Moon), the Philippines' first original, full-length flamenco ballet.  In this modern fairytale of love and betrayal, a sorceress puts a curse on a village when her son falls victim to the local femme fatale.  Whenever the red moon rises, the women are doomed to lust after any man who enters the village and then try to kill him, unless an act of true love can break the curse…
