In her biggest solo exhibit yet, visual artist Lizanne Uychaco displays 24 of her auspicious art pieces at the Conrad Manila until August 11 with the title Of Art and Wine: Heaven and Earth.
Uychaco’s artworks are positive representations of aspirations for harmony among heaven, nature and humanity. Intrinsically, they also speak of the heritage of the artist – her Chinese roots, her Philippine origin, and her contemporary upbringing. She brings a modern interpretation to age-old symbols of prosperity, longevity and happiness.
Significantly, Uychaco’s mixed media artworks are clearly rooted in Oriental art, utilizing miniature Philippine objects that are symbols of protection and prosperity. These ethnic objects made of wood and metal are embedded in her canvases providing a 3-dimensional texture to her art.
For “Heaven and Earth” exhibit, Uychaco’s 24-piece artworks are largely rendered in mixed media, owing to her lifelong training in sculpture, pottery, jewelry-making, silver craft, gold gilding, calligraphy, and painting in watercolor, oils and acrylics.
Among art collectors and enthusiasts, Uychaco’s artistic style is a paradox of ancient beliefs rendered in modern mixed media. Often minimalist yet rich in textures, her works are known for their positive aura, influenced by cultural beliefs, centered on subjects that bring good luck, harmony, prosperity, wealth, and success.
“Of Art and Wine: Heaven and Earth” Exhibit at the hotel's Gallery C runs until August 11, 2019 and is one highlight event of Conrad Manila’s 3rd anniversary. It is also well within the celebration period of 100 years of Hilton worldwide.
It brings together the classic features of Pernod Ricard wines and spirits with art that celebrates life and culture.
