CCP Shows and Events This December: ‘Lam-Ang’, ‘Cinderella’, and More!

If you're looking for your monthly dose of music, theater plays, films, and more at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, we've got you covered! Here is your monthly rundown of shows and events at the CCP this December!
 

1. Tanghalang Pilipino's 'Lam-Ang: An Ethno-Epic Musical'
Date: December 6 to 15
Venue: Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theater)

Starring JC Santos in the titular role, Lam-Ang: An Ethno-Epic Musical reimagines for the stage the oldest folk epic from Luzon, Biag ni Lam-Ang. It is directed by Fitz Bitana and Marco Viaña with a libretto from Jen Darlene Torres and Eljay Castro Deldoc. The musical aims to rediscover this part of the rich Philippine cultural heritage. Tickets are available at the CCP Box Office, Ticket2Me, Bliimo and all TicketWorld outlets.
 

2. Ballet Philippines' 'Cinderella'

As a treat for the holidays, Ballet Philippines will be staging the timeless tale of Cinderella this December. Witness the magic onstage as pumpkins turn into carriages and a true love is found with a glass slipper. The production thrives with the choreography of National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes and the design vision of another National Artist, Salvador Bernal.
 

3. Simbang Gabi
Date: December 16 to 24, 5AM
Venue: CCP Main Ramp

Keeping with the spirit of the Filipino Catholic tradition, the CCP partners with the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish for a Simbang Gabi for everyone at the CCP Main Ramp.
 

4. George Frideric Handel's 'Messiah!'
Date: December 17, 6PM

Celebrate the birth of Christ through music, dance, and the spoken word in this production of George Frideric Handel's Messiah! by the artists of Harmoniya String Orchestra, UP Los Baños Chorale Ensemble, and ACTS Manila with the special participation of Coke Bolipata’s Pundaquit Virtuosi String Orchestra, under the baton of Professor Herminigildo Ranera. 5. 37th PPO Concert Season: "Gold: Classical Music Treasures"
Date: December 20, 8PM (Concert Series IV)

For its fourth concert series, the 37th PPO Concert Season will be featuring the percussionist Aimee Dela Cruz as soloist in Darius Milhaud’s Concerto for Percussion and Small Orchestra. There will also be special performances from the young soprano Alex Kaufman and the young clarinettist Franz Jensen Andra. Under the baton of Herminigildo Ranera are classical masterpieces such as Samuel
Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Die Natali, Op.36, and Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien, Op.45.
 

6. Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company: Fiesta Folkloriada
Date: December 22, 8PM
Venue: Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater)

7. Misa De Aguinaldo

Concluding the nine-day Simbang Gabi (Dawn Masses) at the CCP Main Ramp is the celebration of the Misa De Aguinaldo (Christmas Eve Mass) which will also highlight the choral and dance performances, as well as the re-enactment of the traditional
“Panunuluyan.”
