Art Fair Philippines 2020’s 10 Days of Art Kicks Off This Friday

From February 14 to 23, the 10 Days of Art initiative will feature a series of events around the Makati Central Business District with participations by galleries, museums, bars, restaurants, and retail establishments in celebrating art.

From February 14 to 23, the 10 Days of Art initiative will feature a series of events around the Makati Central Business District with participations by galleries, museums, bars, restaurants, and retail establishments in celebrating art beyond the venue of the fair.

On February 14, Art Fair Philippines will officially launch the ArtFairPH/Film section at the Ayala Triangle Gardens with a two-day special outdoor cinema experience titled The Unconfined Cinema: An Expanded Cinema Project. Curated by film composer Erwin Romulo, film critic Philbert Dy, and film archivist and historian Teddy Co, guests will enjoy some of the best Filipino romantic movies of the last years, projected on the ceiling of the fountain area of Ayala Tower One. There will also be a special presentation of That Thing Called Tadhana and more exciting surprises.

From February 14 to February 23, Manila-based projection designer G.A. Fallarme and Dutch artist Henk-Gert Lenten will light up the façade of The Link, the seven-level home of Art Fair Philippines with a projection mapping display. This time, the artists will present animated video projections of iconic works exhibited throughout the many years of Art Fair Philippines.

There will also be various gallery and museum exhibitions and more exciting events all over the city including: TranscenDance, a movement gathering co-presented by Daloy Dance Co. at KONDWI in Poblacion, Makati City on February 14; La Luminosa, a one-night only pop-up exhibit featuring various artists at Almacen in Poclacion, Makati City on February 17; A drawing workshop with Gig De Pio at Rustan’s Makati, and the opening night of Run Rabbit Run’s pop-up gallery What's Behind The Red Door? in collaboration with Grounded Philippines on February 18; A Don Papa and Art Fair Philippines pop up at The Spirits Library featuring artworks inspired by Sugarlandia and cocktails inspired by the Negros island, and many more.

To kick off 10 Days of Art and launch ArtFairPH/ Film, a special outdoor cinema will take place from February 14 to 16 at Ayala Triangle Gardens.  

Curated by film composer Erwin Romulo, film critic Philbert Dy, and film archivist and historian Teddy Co, audiences will be able enjoy some of the best Filipino romantic movies of the last years, projected on the ceiling of the fountain area of Ayala Tower One.

The Unconfined Cinema provides a novel setting for experiencing Philippine films, and explores the possibilities of engagement outside of the typical venues that serve as gatekeepers to our cinema.

Manila-based projection designer G.A. Fallarme and Dutch artist Henk-Gert Lenten come together for another projection mapping display. This time the artists will take on The Link, the 7-level home of Art Fair Philippines, to showcase their work. In the evenings, from February 14 to 23, the entire facade of The Link will light up with animated video projections of iconic works exhibited throughout the many years of Art Fair Philippines.
