The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is looking fresh with the upcoming year long celebration of their 50th anniversary starting September this year until 2020 the same month.
For five decades, the institution has proven its excellence in showcasing the different forms of art and now renews their commitment to provide more recognition to the next generation of Filipino artists and audiences.
At a press conference, CCP Vice President and Artistic Director Chris Millado unveils the highlights of the anniversary celebration, starting off with its logo and the BayBayan Font that has now become the official font of the institution.
To give you a detailed account, here is a list of the most anticipated events plus a calendar of the CCP's year long celebration:
1. Ginintuang Sining Light Installation and Live Performance Event
Fine Arts meets Folk Arts with the upcoming light and sound show by installation artist Toym Leon Imao. Owing from Pampanga's lantern technology, the installation aims to depict the diverse Filipino artistry and contribute to the national pride and identity. It will be open Tuesdays to Sundays starting September 2019 for four to eight weeks, and is completely free for the public.
2. New CCP Blackbox Theater to Showcase the Experimental
The inaugural season for the newly-built Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez or Blackbox Theater is also just in time for the anniversary. Focusing on the contemporary and experimental embedded in art forms like theater, dance, music, and multimedia; the flexible space is to be dedicated to adventurous ideas, collaborations, and audiences.
3. Digital Time Capsule
From the traditional burial of time capsules that contain precious work of art and information, CCP gives the custom an upgrade by putting such works on the Cloud. The Digital Time Capsule will be an online archive with an interactive interface that anyone could contribute to.
