We're almost done with 2017, and with the new year comes a brand new season of amazing plays and musicals for all ages from Repertory Philippines!

For 50 years now, REP has been bringing the best of West End and Broadway to the country as a way to promote and create a space for those who love the theater arts. And they don't plan on stopping anytime soon!

REP will be culminating their 2017 season with the first tribal love-rock musical Hair. Running from November 17 to December 17, this Broadway musical will take its audience back to the 60s – to the time of the hippies. It will follow a boy named Claude who meets a group of Central Park hippies protesting against the Vietnam War and promoting love, peace, and rock 'n' roll. The musical will be directed by Chris Millado.

Here are all the shows you should look forward to in REP's 2018 Season: 

1. Ken Ludwig's Comedy of Tenors

To kick off the new season, REP will be presenting Comedy of Tenorsa hilarious Paris-set play centering on a group of people who encounters each other in a series of misadventures before an important concert. The musical, which will be directed by Miguel Faustmann, will run fron January 26 to February 18

2. Lauren Gundersen's Silent Sky

From March 2 to 25, REP will be presenting Silent Sky, a play about an astronomer named Henrietta Swan Leavitt who – along with her team of of women – made discoveries that shaped modern astronomies. It follows Henrietta and her life in a man's world. This play is to be directed by Joy Virata. 

3. Joseph Kesselrin's Arsenic and Old Lace

Arsenic and Old Lace will be running from April 6 to 29. This play is set in the 1930s and follows Mortimer Brewster who visits his family, only to find out that his beloved aunts have been murdering lonely old men for fun. With this knowledge, he then tries to stay on top of the situation, protecting his wife, while trying to keep his sanity. Jamie Wilson directs this play. 

4. Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman​'s Rapunzel

While this year gave us Beauty and the Beast, REP Theater for Young Audiences will be giving us Rapunzel for 2018. It's the re-telling of the classic fairytale, following Sir Roderick and his hairstylist friend Edgar who goes on a quest to find "the perfect head of hair" and rescue Princess Rapunzel from the evil Lady Za Za. This play will be directed by Joy Virata. 

5. Joy Virata's Miong

Ending the 2018 Season for REP is Miong, a musical telling the story of Emilio Aguinaldo's youth – his family life, marriage, and his early days in the Katipunan. Miong hopes to show the youth someone who exemplifies bravery and love of country. The musical kicks off on Aguinaldo's 150th birthday on March 22, 2019 and will be running until April 14, 2019.
