The most successful animated series to date, The Simpsons are about a family of misfits living in the typical American small town of Springfield. Between rebellious teenager Bart, older sister book-nerd Lisa, regular beer-drinking man-on-couch Homer, his sensible wife Marge and her blue beehive, to innocent baby Maggie, the Simpsons manage to get themselves into plenty of scrapes and hilarious situations, which resolve themselves in graphic and imaginative ways. The series spoofs current political, social and economic issues with plenty of humour and intelligence. Along with a whole host of other extreme characters representing anything from ruthless industry (Mr. Burns), to mindless entertainment (Krusty The Klown), this is an animated series that's smarter than life and will never run out of material.
