Look up in the sky, it's a bird! No, it's a plane. It's Superman. Nope, it's Supergirl. And she has landed a new TV series. Way to go, girl power!
Here are a few things we know about Supergirl (print and TV) so far:
1. Superman is to Clark Kent as Supergirl is to Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El.
2. She's Superman's cousin so no, they can't be a couple unless you like incestuous relationships. Otherwise, that would be really disturbing.
3. Born on the planet Krypton, Kara escaped as soon as it was destructing.
4. Since arriving on Earth, she's been hiding her powers — just like her famous cousin.
5. She possesses all of Superman's powers — superhuman strength, speed, enhanced senses — you name all Kent's powers, this girl has it.
6. At the age of 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
7. The CBS decides on making a series out of the famous comics and is the third superhero TV series of producer Greg Berlanti following Arrow and The Flash.
8. 26-year-old Glee alumnae Melissa Benoist will portray the lead, Supergirl.
9. The series also stars Calista Flockhart, who will play the tough boss at CatCo, Cat Grant; Mehcad Brooks, who will co-star as Supergirl's love interest, Jimmy Olsen; Chyler Leigh, as Kara's doctor sister, Alex Danvers; and David Harewood, as supervillain Hank Henshaw, known as Cyborg Superman in the DC world. Moreover, Laura Benanti will play Kara's birth mom, Alura Zor-El.
10. It will be aired in the Fall; there is no exact date yet but it will soon be announced. All the more we have to be glued on updates.
The pilot for the series reportedly cost $14 million (P600+ million). Can you just imagine how the pilot episode will look? We're excited, that's for sure!
