South East Asia Horror Week on Thrill

Celestial Tiger Entertainment, operator of the largest bouquet of pan-Asian channels dedicated to Asian entertainment, presents the South East Asia Horror Week on Thrill.

Celestial Tiger Entertainment, operator of the largest bouquet of pan-Asian channels dedicated to Asian entertainment, presents the South East Asia Horror Week on Thrill. Starting April 14 at 11pm, catch all nail-biting flicks from Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.

The Horror Week kicks off with Fragrant Night Vampire (April 14), written and directed by Shuhaimi Baba. The 2004 Malaysian film stars Meriam, played by Maya Karin, a victim of a vicious murder, returns from the dead as a vampire, bent on making those who killed her pay.

The thrill continues with Meat Grinder (April 15). Directed by Thai film director, Tiwa Moeithaisong, this 2009 film is about a mentally disturbed woman, played by Mai Charoenpura, who opens up a successful noodle stall. Unbeknownst to her customers, the main ingredient on her menu is human flesh.

Released in 2011, Indonesian film Tebus (April 16), is about a famous and successful businessman who takes pride in his family reputation more than anything else. He doesn’t realize that his arrogance could shatter the lives of his family when they are suddenly terrorized by unknown men. The film is directed by Mohammed Yusuf and stars Tio Pakusadewo and Chintami Atmanegara.

Next is Malaysian film Trauma by Aziz Osman (April 17). The 2004 film is about Nurul, played by Amy Mastura, who gets into a terrible car accident. She is then manipulated into getting hospitalized for psychiatric treatment to treat her trauma, by Jeslina, Nurul’s new personal assistant. While Nurul is in the hospital, Jeslina, played by Nasha Aziz, now has her sights set on Nurul's boyfriend. Soon strange things start to happen and it seems that Jeslina’s mysterious presence in Nurul’s life may have something to do with it.

The fifth film in the roster is Philippines’ Sundo or When Death Calls (April 18). Released on March 18, 2009, the suspense-thriller film was directed by Topel Lee. The film is about a Romano, played by Robin Padilla, a retired military operative who has the special ability of seeing ghostly companions around people who are about to face imminent death. On a trip to Manila, all his companions are visited by ghostly presences. And soon, one after the other, all of his companions start to die horrible deaths.

Next is Ouija (April 19), another Philippine horror film by Topel Lee. The award-winning 2007 film is about half-sisters Aileen, played by Judy Ann Santos and Romina, played by Jolina Magdangal. They are reunited in Camiguin, together with their cousins Sandra and Ruth, for the burial of their grandmother. The girls find an old Ouija board they used to play with as kids and decide to call on the spirits. But before they finish the ritual, the Ouija board is burned by accident, trapping an evil spirit among them, causing death and havoc.

The horrific week closes with Indonesia’s Setan Facebook (April 20). The 2010 film directed by Helfi Kardit stars Chindy Anggrina, Boy Hamzah and Jehaan Sienna. The film is about a Facebook addict who accepts a friend request from a mysterious stranger, soon enough her friends start dying. They all have only one thing in common, being friends with the mysterious Mira Anindita.

Catch the horror from April 14 to April 20, every night at 11pm on Thrill. Thrill is on Skycable channel 73, Cablelink channel 49, Destiny Cable channel 11.
