Here’s the fearless forecast for Orphan Black: dark and intriguing with a chance of look-alikes. Indeed, the award-winning television series finally makes its anticipated debut on LIFETIME™ this April 7, Monday, at 9pm.

It’s a different world out there (and finally one that isn’t populated by either vampires or zombies), but by being rooted in the sci-fi genre, Orphan Black presents an impressive balance between what can and cannot be, executed in the most exciting manner possible.

It’s been hailed as a highly entertaining, gritty, visceral, and engaging thriller—and for a show that deals with serious, mind-boggling situations (the moral and ethical implications of human cloning, for one; and the debate on personal identity, another), it’s gotten high praise and rave reviews. But perhaps it’s how Orphan Black deals with these intriguing issues that will get us reeled in, too.

Starring Golden Globe Best Actress nominee Tatiana Maslany, Orphan Black begins with a shocking first episode when Sarah sees a stranger—who eerily looks exactly like her—commit suicide.

Having just gotten from a bad relationship and painfully separated from her own daughter, Sarah finds this event an easy escape from her present circumstance. Without thinking, she decides to take on the dead woman’s identity, clearing her bank account, and even stealing her boyfriend.

But instead of the supposedly better life she envisioned, Sarah, now living as Beth—the woman whose life she stole—soon finds out that before her suicide, Beth was caught in the middle of a conspiracy and assassins are after her.

After realizing her new character’s darker, shadier past, Sarah now struggles to escape, but in the process, she stumbles headlong into a kaleidoscopic thriller mystery, and soon uncovers a life-changing secret: she’s a clone. In shock, Sarah then begins to search for answers, eventually finding out that there are more like her out there.

With ten must-see episodes set to leave us on the edge of our seats, several more of Sarah’s clones to chase and win over, and an unlimited dose of true sci-fi, it’s exciting to see how many more new members the #CloneClub will gain once Filipinos get a load of Orphan Black on Lifetime.

Lifetime is available on SKYCable Ch 65 and other select provincial channels.
