Cinemalaya Film Festival 2018
August 3 to 12 (Cultural Center of the Philippines // Ayala Cinemas)

The 14th Cinemalaya Film Festival is set to open just a bit over a month from now, so if you still haven't marked your calendars, now's the time to do so and start saving up! 

Happening from August 3 to 12 at various CCP venues and Ayala Cinemas, this year's festival will be featuring 10 full-length films and 10 short films of various genres which showcase the talents and artistry of Filipino independent filmmakers. 

Tickets for the films are priced at P150 (P100 for students) and can be purchased at the CCP Box Office and in Ticketworld outlets. For the screening schedule and updates on the festival, you may check out Cinemalaya's Facebook page and website.

Workshy Live in Manila
August 10 (The Theatre at Solaire)

Best known for the songs "Fascination", "In This Neighborhood" and "Trouble Mind" as well as covers of "I Say A Little Prayer", "If I Ever Lose This Heaven" and "It’s Too Late," London-based 80s band WORKSHY is coming to Manila for a one-night-only performance on August 10, 2018, at The Theatre at Solaire. 

Titled as "WORKSHY LIVE IN MANILA," the concert marks their first visit to Manila presented by PolyEast Records and Solaire Resort and Casino. Workshy is expected to excite their Filipino fans with their greatest hits and cuts from their new album "Wayward". 

Enjoy an unforgettable night reminiscing the music of the 80s with Chrysta Marina Jones and the rest of the group on Friday, August 10, 2018, at The Theatre at Solaire.

Eto na! Musikal nAPO!
August 3 to 26 (Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium)

9 Works Theatrical and Globe Live presents Eto na! Musikal nAPO!, premiering at the Globe Theater, Maybank Performing Arts Theater in BGC this August! The musical will be running from August 3 to 26. 

Eto Na! Musikal nAPO! is a musical comedy centering on a group of friends who joins a singing and songwriting competition. The group then faces the challenge of creating the perfect song – from writing the lyrics to arranging it – as they also have to deal with their own personal issues on love, family, and the political turmoil brought by Martial Law. 

The show is written and directed by Robbie Guevara, with music by Apo Hiking Society's Danny Javier, Jim Paredes, and Boboy Garovillo. 

Tripkada Travel Meet-Up Palaro 
August 10 (Lokal Hostel)

Get ready as the biggest travel-pooling platform in the Philippines, Tripkada, brings you a night full of games, food and Filipino culture!

This August 10 at 6PM, Tripkada will take you back to the rich Filipino tradition through Travel Meet-up: Palaro.  A night of fun and fiesta that will highlight Filipino traditional parlor games from different regions in the Philippines. This will also be a time to introduce new Tripkada destinations and updates with overflowing alcohol from Tanduay Philippines. MaArte Fair
August 10 to 12 (The Peninsula Manila)

It’s a man’s world at the 10th edition of the MaArte Fair. In just one month, bazaar lovers can look forward to the return of their favorite tradition: the annual MaArte Fair, to be held August 10-12 at The Peninsula Manila in Makati City.

Now on its 10th edition, the MaArte Fair, organized by the Museum Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (MFPI), highlights the men in our lives by creating a Pinoy Man Cave.

The Pen’s second-floor meeting rooms will take on the role of MaArte’s #PinoyManCave. Inside, expect to find exhibitors who will come out with special product lines just for men: Len Cabili’s Filip+Inna, Jojie Lloren for La Herminia Piña, Creative Definitions, Balay ni Atong, Natalya Lagdameo, and TDLG (Tweetie de Leon Gonzales).

MaArte at The Pen is free and open to the general public. It will run from August 10 to 12 at The Gallery on the third floor of The Peninsula Manila.  

History Con 2018

EIGASAI 2018: The 21st Japanese Film Festival
July 4 to August 26

The Japan Foundation, Manila is pleased to announce the full lineup of films, guests and special talks for this year’s Japanese Film Festival, more popularly known as EIGASAI.

In honor of the Philippine-Japan Friendship Month, EIGASAI’s 21st edition runs from July 4 to August 26, 2018 ﹣with fifteen full-feature films of diverse genres selected for more than 100 screenings across five major cities nationwide. This year’s film festival is set to be unique as it collaborates with other Japan Foundation arts, cultural and dialogue projects.

Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis, except screenings at Greenbelt 1 Cinema 2 (PHP100 per screening) where tickets are available online https://www.sureseats.com or at the cinema ticket booth starting June 27.

John Coley Live in Santa Rosa

American singer John Ford Coley will be performing at the Santa Rosa Sports Coliseum is Santa Rosa, Laguna on August 11, 2018 produced by Ovation Productions. 

John is a classically trained pianist, guitarist, actor and author most known for his partnership in the musical duo England Dan & John Ford Coley.

The Vagina Monologues
August 11 to 12 (Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium)

The New Voice Company (NVC), one of the country’s most cutting edge and socially provocative theatre groups headed by its Artistic Director Monique Wilson, celebrates the 20th Anniversary of VDAY with a V20 English and Filipino production of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES (TVM) by Eve Ensler with Filipino translation by Rito Asilo.

THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES runs for one V20 special weekend only – on August 11 (English) and 12 (Filipino). The artists will be performing in English on August 11 at 8pm and in Filipino on August 12 at 3pm.
