Vancouver Casts Her Winter Charm

Vancouver, Canada has always had the distinct and enviable reputation of being among the best cities in the world to live in. So it was with excitement that I planned a visit when the demands of corporate idolatry allowed me --- the long Christmas break. Although it would fall right into the freezing North American winter season, it did not matter. The best should always have something to offer. Besides, I was told that actually Vancouver is the warmest city in Canada. Winter there is “pleasant” – not as frigid as its sister cities in the east, buried in meters of glacial snow. There would be occasional flurries and light snow that melt in the midday sun. It would be tolerable for tropical mammals as myself.

A Unique Sky Experience

The small brown maya birds lost in the sky like myself in bustling downtown Cebu must have thought I was neither dinner nor danger, as I hardly glanced along my direction trying to act like a bird, winging myself around the structure of the Crown Regency Hotel & Towers along Fuente Osmeña boulevard in Cebu. It was one of those works cum vacation for me as I was doing consultancy services for one of the world’s first and only amusement ride of its kind – the Edge Coaster!

All That Jazz: A Fun Ride To The North Side

What happens when you combine a bunch of car aficionados and shutterbugs, a motoring royalty turned pirate and the all new Honda Jazz? It’s like having a rock band on a road tour except that we get to drive and ride in an FUV (Fun-Utility-Vehicle).

A Second Time Around In Hong Kong

The blast of heat that whipped against my face came as a bit of a shock when I stepped out of the K-2 Bus in Hong Kong’s cosmopolitan Kowloon District. My memory of Hong Kong was limited to a trip almost 20 years ago. It was a winter holiday when I was decked out in a heavy maroon parka, and revelers were throwing confetti at the crowd walking down the streets during one Christmas Eve.

Island Hopping Adventure In Surigao

I wanted to cleanse myself of Metro Manila and all the sordid things in life it hosts – ceaseless yakkity-yak of politics, corruption and daily bombardments on our collective consciousness of images on television.

Graceland Estates and Country Club

After a bumpy three-hour drive from the metro, our group finally made it to Graceland. The drive was difficult with heavy traffic, muddy roads and non-stop rain. Inside our cramped car, the mood was just as stormy. We'd skipped breakfast and and stayed hungry way past noon. As we winded our way to the rain-soaked entrance of the resort, lightning streaked the sky and the clouds were an angry shade of gray.

A Boracay Summer Escape At Tirta Spa

Never mind the summer heat pricking my back, but the Balinese temple gates that greeted me at this hilltop sanctuary was dramatic. Like towering pillars of an exotic kingdom, it unmistakably guarded the most premium spa hide-away yet to rise in the island paradise of Boracay. Finally, I was at Tirta Spa --- the latest talk of the town spa among wellness maniacs exploiting quick summer escapades to the season’s must-go beach destination.

Hitting The Beach With Sony Ericsson

While my recent trip to Boracay was probably the most cloudy one, raining on us for two nights, hitting the beach with rocking tunes and getting drinks for free just by showing off my Sony Ericsson phone made the perfect summer experience.

Dazzling Davao

Considered as the window to the island of Mindanao, Davao City is home to various national prides. The alluring orchid called the waling-waling, the intriguing endangered Philippine Eagle, whose sanctuary is at the foot of Mt. Apo, the country’s highest mountain are among the tourist attractions in this bounteous province. No wonder my friends and I opted for an adventure trip to Davao City, one of the world’s largest cities.
