Manila's traffic situation has gotten out of hand which makes commutes a lot more frustrating than ever. Starting today, June 15, Uber Philippines has rolled out a feature called uberPOOL which have actually been launched in other countries and they say has been proven to lessen the number of cars on the road.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use Uber's newest feature:
1. Select uberX
The uberPOOL option can only be accessed when you select uberX. You then input the pickup and drop off destination since the fare is calculated based on the destination and the chances of getting matched given the time of day and location of your request.
2. Select the number of seats you need
The app will then ask you how many seats you need. If you select 1 or 2, you will be given the option to use uberPOOL. If you choose 3 or 4, it automatically goes to the usual uberX ride.
3. uberPOOL option for 1 or 2 people
If you choose 1 or 2 seats, you will be given the choice of riding an uberPOOL or an uberX which already shows you how much you're paying. When you choose the uberPOOL option, you will be paying the exact fare that's flashed on the screen so you don't have to worry about traffic or the slight detour to pick up your co-rider. Note that uberPOOL is 25% cheaper compared to the normal uberX ride.
4. Wait for your driver
Wait for your ride to arrive. Take note that the driver will wait only for 2 minutes and will cancel on you if you don't arrive on time. Learn more about the rider's etiquette here.
What's nice about uberPOOL is that its quoted fare that's shown before you request is guaranteed whether you get a co-rider or not so you'll always know how much you'd pay. Will you be trying out this new feature? Let us know in the comments down below! Visit the website to know more about uberPOOL.
