Microsoft’s new ‘Send’ app makes e-mail more like a Messaging App

It is an app that has an instant messaging style that removes almost all the usual parts of an e-mail which makes it simple and brief.

Microsoft wants a smooth-running version of e-mails by launching an app called Send from its Microsoft Garage unit. It is an app that has an instant messaging style that removes almost all the usual parts of an e-mail which makes it simple and brief.

"Send gives you the simple, quick text message-like experience while allowing you to reach all co-workers and have all of your communication in Outlook for reference later," the Outlook team wrote in a blog post.

The company thinks e-mails can sometimes be inefficient since you have to open the app, tap on the compose message, type into the recipient field, input a subject line before you actually get to write your message.

That's where the efficiency of Send comes in; it has an SMS-like communication with your available email contacts without their phone numbers or using a different app.

Send does not ask for a subject line, a salutation, a signature and it will show your frequent or recent contacts  instantly when you open the app. Moreover, you can see when they are typing a response if your contact is an app user as well.

Microsoft Send is available now as a free download for iOS users and will soon roll out on Android and Windows Phone.
