5 things to know about the latest operating system:

1. Smarter Siri

Siri is more intelligent, from a virtual assistant to a proactive assistant now. Based on the things the user usually does, Siri will give out intelligent suggestions for what you want to do next even before the user asks. Going to the gym? Siri automatically launches your music for you.

Siri also suggest apps or people to contact based on the usage and notifies you when you need to leave for appointments depending on the traffic. Brilliant, right?

2. Longer Battery Life

According to the company, an iPhone has an extra hour of daily battery life on iOS 9. The apps are made to be more efficient to save battery so you get more battery life. Apple has added a Low Power mode that extends your battery life for a maximum of 3 hours on standby.

3. Better Apps

Apple's apps have a lot of improvements as well. The Notes app now has formatting options so you can turn lists into checklists, draw directly and add photos in the app itself. You can also add lists making the Notes app a rich-text editor.

It's easier to use public transportation with Apple's Maps as your guide. The new transit view displays lines and stations on the map and gives you routes from your place to your destination. In addition, the Nearby feature lets you see what's around which is easier for you to decide on places to go to.

The company also announced a new app called News which is a magazine-like viewer from the Web on your iPhone or iPad. Publishers like Vanity Fair, BuzzFeed, New York Times and more will be available on the News app.

Apple Music is a new streaming service that costs $9.99 per month after a 3-month free trial has also been announced by the company. Apple will also be launching Beats 1 which is a 24-hour radio station and will be bringing playlists from Beats customized, depending on your taste.

4. Split-view on iPad

Is multi-tasking one of your special skills? SplitView and SlideOver are new features which allows you to run two apps at the same time, side by side.

SlideOver allows you to slide from the side to access another app. Meanwhile, with SplitView, both apps stay active and allows you to access both apps at the same time. Apps can be seen 50/50 or 70/30 on screen. SplitView only works on iPad Air 2.

5. Move to iOS

Have the urge to move to iOS but just couldn't because of the hassle to transfer all data from your Android phone? No problem! Move to iOS allows users to wirelessly switch from Android to iOS. According to the company, users can wirelessly transfer their contacts, messages, photos and videos, web bookmarks, mail accounts, and even music to the iOS device.

iOS 9 will only require 1.3GB instead of 4.6GB making the update process much easier compared to the iOS 8 update.
